Sable, a shark and a chief invected argent. |
(Also known as James Elric Norþmon)
The son of a sail-maker, James met Emma Godwif while in Italy to buy textile materials for the family business. James whisked Emma back to England where they married in 1550. Later, they jointly took over management of the sail-making business.
Though a Protestant, during the reign of Queen Mary, James insisted the family observe all Catholic traditions and regulations to protect them all from burning at the stake for martyrdom. Despite their best efforts, they later came under scrutiny for their beliefs during the Marian Persecutions (though they were one of the few who avoided persecution).
In 1558, James began contract negotiations to purchase a Spanish-built ship, which he named La Tintorera (The Shark).

James is a rapier fencer and cadet to Don Andrew Williams. He is also known to participate in target archery from time to time.
