Baroness HL Jodan has been in the SCA since AS XXI and has been involved in many aspects of the Society. (Okay, this is a really old picture.) She spread the gospel of Tablero da Gucci to Lochac and Southron Gaard, being the Ambasador for Lions Gate. She is strong in both Arts and Sciences and Service, and has had a hand at Fighting light, Pike and Dragoon; and more lately, Crossbow combat with the scary Shittemites. Jodan was Court Liasion to their Royal Majesties Ulfgar & Renee, Prince & Princess of Tir Righ.

Jodan has been awarded; AoA, Jambe de Lion, Goutte de Sang, Court Baroness, Lions Claw, Princess's Favour, Queen's Favour, Archbishopric, Albatross, along with many other various and sundry thank yous.

Aside from being a helpful person, she's a bit of fun. She paints murals and taught Tavern Wenching for 12 years at Clinton War. Although it's her favourite event, she has passed along the class to others - but you can find her there every year - usually first on site and last to leave. Feel free to visit her. Look for her banner: Azure field, Sun in Splendor Or in chief, Chevron Gules ermined with trees azure, three water bouquets OR in base.

The Clinton War is a valuable and preferred event in Tir Righ and An Tir. There is a work week before the actual weekend event and all are invited to attend and lend a hand preparing the site for the influx of populace. Jodan is an integral part of that advanced group, starting with the Engineers and aiding in the overall functions of the site. It is hoped that the committee will be able to streamline the site works and the event, to make it an even more popular undertaking.

On the Arts and Sciences side of things, Jodan is an avid Lampworker; making beads, buttons and norse woven integrated neck pieces. She has fashioned commission pieces for Royalty and sometimes merchants her wares at Clinton, 12th Night and other major events - keep your eyes open.

At one Clinton War, many moons ago, Jodan entered and won the A&S competition to save the war for Lions Gate. The category was to design and build a box to keep the "L" banner in. For those not in the know, the "L" banner was created over the years by the vitors of the war, originally between Lions Gate and Montengarde. The victor was obliged to keep the banner until the following year - adding to and embellishing it further. To say the least, the Lavern style "L" became even more of an eyesore and winning didn't look so attractive, as a result. -- With this in mind, Jodan built a small wooden box, into which she put a piece of glass, wood shavings and a wooden spoon. Attached to the box were directions. "Take the shavings and put them on the ground in a safe and open area. Using the piece of glass, magnify the suns rays to ignite the shavings, and build a fire. Using that fire, burn the "L" banner. Take the ashes from the banner, put them in the box, and using the wooden spoon, bury the box where it can no longer harm anyone." This endeavour earned Lions Gate the winning point in the war. (It should be noted there were some very elegant and amazing boxes submitted in this competition, however tongue-in-cheek won the day.)

Jodan currently lives in Pemberton, BC. (a subdivision of Whistler). There are a few SCA members there but she's hoping more will be attracted to this amazingly beautiful location. There is a mission afoot to have the area declared a Shire (there are five paid members). At the base of Mt. Currie, lies the valley of Pemberton, so it was originally thought the name Val Currie would be suitable. Fornthiorna was then decided, being the Norse name for Over Lord, named after a pass in the immediate vicinity.

Jodan really misses being directly involved in the Lions Gate happenings. She tries to make it to many events, but with the added distance it's not always possible. She has strong ties to Shittimwoode's populace, as well.

Recently (Feb '08)Jodan helped introduce Tablero da Gucci to the shores of Santiago, MX; with the help of a few local Cardinals. Sir Thomas Tutlett was there too. William Blood won the Tournament and earned himself a set of Sterling Silver dice. Nicely done.

Jodan is one of my favorite people in the Society. Her loud, unrelenting, boisterous behavior is an inspiration to all aspiring loud, unrelenting, boisterous people. Jodan is also an incredibly talented, multi-faceted artisan with solid foundations in various different art forms. Hjlmr inn Danski 13:56, 11 Sep 2007 (EDT)
