Garb

Bartholomew the Goat, also known as Bartholomew Sinclair, was first introduced to the SCA when Shepard Rowan Ewen of Otter brought him to his first event, Tournament of Roses A.S. LVIII (58, 2024). From there, he became an unofficial garden gnome type game as he was fought over and sought out for shenanigans. Sometimes referred to as "the boy", Bartholomew has travelled to the lands of Avacal, the coasts of Tir Righ and the cold north in Cold Keep in the arms of his many triumphant keepers.

Rules of Engagement

Some ground rules to keep the game fun and simple, if you have hold of Bartholomew you will be considered in on the game.

• If Bartholomew is clothed, he is currently not able to be fought over, this is to prevent ripping of garb and keep pointy things out of people
• People are encouraged to take photo of Bartholomew before leaving for an event or when arriving on site
• When placing Bartholomew in active play one must take off all of the clothing and accessories and stow in Bartholomew's bag
• Normal Bartholomew shenanigans ensue, including but not limited to: grabbing him and running off while being chased, wrestling over him, hiding him in plain sight, offering him to the scariest person you know to see if anyone actually tries to grab him, entering him into the Wench Wars at Quad War, offering him for sitting at the thrones during court, holding onto his leg because you don't trust the person who is actively sewing him back together to not run off with him, politely asking the person who is holding him to have him and actually having it work, and many more
• Whoever claims Bartholomew grabs the bag before they leave
• Current Bartholomew keeper takes a photo at the end or soon after an event
• Bring Bartholomew to the next event
• If not able to make it to a reasonably soon event, pass off Bartholomew after optional victory photo to someone who is able to

Other Considerations of Bartholomew:

• Travel photos encouraged
• Optional addition of new trinkets/garb can be done
• If Bartholomew or accessories are damaged, please repair/replace or surrender to someone willing to repair
• Restuffing may be necessary after vigorous battle

Garb Contributions

Starting in October 2024, Archibald the Red created a red/blue plaid reversible kilt, complete with a belt and annular cloak pin. Oswald Bellemy produced a hat for the boy. Matteo de Malizia created a bag for his belongings. Allister the Peacock provided an embroidered name patch for the bag. Sadhbh provided a pair of plaid pants and a blue tunic to fit him into a more Viking era fellow.

The Ongoing Tale of Bartholomew

Landing in Danescombe from unknown origins, he was quickly swept up into the arms of the goblins as a prized companion during Tournament of Roses. During his early days he took trips with Matteo de Malizia, spent a Christmas with Peregrina Drakkar, sat up at the thrones in court many times, spent time with Talbot and Grizelda of Lion's Gate, and was in good company with Enoch Jacobsz van Zuidenland and other MODs.

Under the care of Sadhbh and Drekah Thoreson he had the most grand adventures, finding himself at a demolition derby, receiving new garb, and also off to the lands of Avacal for Quad War 2025, where he participated in the Wench Wars and met royalty abroad.

He attended Lion's War 2025, were much dusty wrestling was had and victorious was Ulrich Fuchs who showed Bartholomew a good time while in the north. Fuchsy the fox was introduced to Bartholomew by Ulrich Fuchs during his time in Cold Keep, and travelled with him to Freeze Off 2025. After this event Tobias von Rosenheim charmed Bartholomew home as Fuchsy went to gallivant around Lion's Gate with Lokki inn helgi.

At Golden Swan 2025 he was joyous in the rain, running around in glee. Tales say that he made his way to November Coronet 2025 in the company of Oswald Bellemy, plump and clean after a relaxing spa weekend with Archibald the Red. At Coronet he found himself once again charmed into the arms of Sadhbh, finding good company until he found himself at Baroness' Inspiration Tournament.

But *gasp*- Bartholomew went missing! And naked, nonetheless! At this time, his whereabouts remain unknown, while his clothes are with Matteo.
