Xenia Dimitrievna Morózova

We once asked Xenia for her persona story. She replied:

"And now, by popular (or maybe not-so-popular) demand, Xenia's persona story:

"Xenia Dmitrievna Morozova (read: Xenia, daughter of Dmitri, of the House of Morozov) is a 16th C. Russian (except when she wants to wear 12th century Russians, when she becomes her own ancestor). She ees werry bad Roossian, wis werry bad Roossian accent, and likes to be making beeeg trouble for moose and squirrel. She ees also werry mysteerious woman.

"She is younger (however young it takes to dress as a "maiden" rather than a "married woman"), rather prettier, and somewhat more silly than that mundane Meredith-Mercer-person. Her family were sucessful Novgorodian merchants until Ivan the Terrible forced all the merchants in Novgorod to move to Moscow. He replaced them with Muscovite merchants loyal to him, thus breaking the power of the old Novgorodian merchant families, and of Novgorod as a city, vastly increasing his own power (BTW, the merchant switcheroo is historical fact.) This caused the business ruin of the house of Morozov, and for this reason, Xenia thinks that Ivan is _really_ terrible.

"Shortly after this, Xenia left Moscow (probably in the company of an extremely handsome Scottish sailor of the recently formed British-based Moscovy company, although details here are somewhat obscure.) She traveled through southern Russia, the Middle and Near East, and the length and breadth of Europe, passing through every country and time period that she wants to wears the clothing of.

"She now lives in London, Edinburgh, and/or Moscow, depending on her mood and what clothes she wants to wear, and earns her keep as borderess, scholar, and other sources she does not always care to divulge.

Xenia has been for several years a Clan member of Clan Hubert although she now lives far from our shores, in Madrone. We all miss her.
