Tournaments:
Heavy:
The heavy tourney will follow some of the Lions Gate traditions: To enter the lists, you must do two things: - bring an item for the prize table - challenge a Knight to a bout (this does not count as a death for the tourney). Belted fighters will be included in the tourney fighting till the quarterfinals. If there are enough Knights participating (and if eric space allows), we will branch off into two separate tourneys, so that when the day is through we will have both an unbelted and a belted winner for the day.
There will be a prize for the winners of these tourneys, and everyone will be able to participate in the prize table. Please note that the Sergeant who excels for the day in fighting will be awarded the Boar Spear for the next year; a tribute from Gerhard Kendal.
Lions Gate Defender of Rapier:
The Rapier Defender's tourney details will be confirmed at Court. You must be present at the Rapier Invocation at Opening Court (10am start) in order to compete for Lions Gate Defender of Rapier.
The Baron and Baroness would like all competitors in the defenders tourneys to know that as a part of this rank, the two victors this day will be expected over the next year to: - When present, to join us at our courts - Represent the Barony when travelling to other branches - Attend the three major local events, being Banquet, Baronesses and May Bardic - Compete in the name of Lions Gate over the next year - Swear fealty or an oath of service to the Barony
Those competitors holding champion/defender titles from other branches or planning on competing in any for the next year should speak with the Baron or Baroness.
Gerhard's Riposte:
We will be celebrating in tournament the second anniversary of "Gerhard's Riposte" (formerly known as Fiberglass Champion). This is a tournament for ALL Fighters authorized and non-authorized. The ONLY requirement is that you must not yet own steel weapons. Full amour inspection is also a requisite. This is an accolade style tourney. Once again this is open to non-authorized combatants, though not exclusively so

and... The new Rapier defender of Lions Gate is Estaban de Ferreiro. He and Diarmuid de Rosa fought and had most wins in each for their erics, They then lead their respective teams through a series of regimental duels, with Eseban's team winning 3 wins over 2.
My thanks to all who participated, marshals, lists waterbearer's, and Autocrat Also thanks to Don Prospere, who ran Defenders in order that I might compete.

Congratulations to Sigurd Kerr de Roxburgh for winning the Baroness’ Heavy Tourney. We had 37 unbelted fighters and 10 knights (including Duke Erik.) The final two fighters were Sigurd and Lord Petro of the Troubadours. A good time was had by all.
Also at Baroness’, we had a new Sergeant earn the right to carry Gerhard’s Boar Spear for the year. Lord Sergeant Tirian the Blue progressed further than all other Sergeants in the tourney. Well Done!

Court Report
Being the Report of the Court of Their Highnesses, Ulf and Amanda, Prince and Princess of Tir Righ. Court held on December 3, 2005 being AS XL at Baroness’ Tourney in the Barony of Lions Gate.
Members of the Royal Retinue who had not yet sworn fealty to Their Highnesses stepped forward to do so. Captain of the Princess’ Guard is Sir Griffin ap Bedwyr, whose retinue identifier is a red armband.
Her Highness Amanda asked Ian ap Griffin to come forward, spoke of his skill and courtesy in the Blue Helm Tourney held that day, and invited him to take his place in Their court this day.
The merchants at the event presented Their Highnesses with largesse, and Her Ladyship Genevieve Barbota of Gryphonshold did speak for them.
On behalf of King Skeggi and Queen Taisiia, Their Highnesses Ulf and Amanda invested Zelda of Jorvik into the Order of the Goutte de Sang.

Personal Memories
(Add your personal event memories here. End them with a blank line, four dashes and another blank line. Don't forget to sign them with dash-dash-tildex3. Reminder: it's considered VERY rude to edit someone else's memories.)
Yusuf ban Joseph was knighted. Yolande Chastellain was offered a Pelican. There were two Laurels recognized -- the fellow who used to be Richard of Broadmeadow and (agh! I'm having a really bad name day! my apologies) Master Guido's lady who does fabbo weaving and dying AND who was also recognized as a White Scarf earlier in court. He who used to be known as Duke Eric (and Yusuf's knight) just happened to be visiting from Lochac. His Majesty enthusiastically reminded the gentlemen present that this is "The Most Romantic Winter Ever". --Elizabeth Braidwood 19:25, 5 Dec 2005 (EST)
Did anyone mention HL Yolande's presentation?
It started with Countess Celdae (whose proper title is not affixed in my head at the moment...my apologies) saying that it was her right and her privilege to take on Proteges, and had chosen Yolande. Yolande then wanted to honor the fealty arrangements that she already had by making presentations to Duke Darius and Her Highness Amanda.
Apparently His Majesty thought that there were just too many confusing fealty ties and they should all be severed...by making her a Pelican!
Suddenly, all the Pelicans--in very Pelicanate style--flocked in from all corners of the room!
I couldn't hear very well--I was back by the kitchen--so perhaps someone closer to the front could explain some of the details. :)
Congratulations again, Yolande! Very well deserved!
Hugs, The Honorable Lady Helene de Navarre
Thank you everyone for the premature elevations. : ) I'm just a viscountess and go by the title of Naqiba. For those who were not there or could not hear this is what happened.
Yolande was under the impression that I would be taking her on as an apprentice which we've discussed for over a year but could not meet up, what with her having a baby and all. (I'm a laurel and a pelican but I don't use protege and only apprentice). Before we could actually do this, the pelicans had recommended to TRMs and it was accepted that Yolande would be offered the accolade when both Their Majeties and she were at the same event.
So as far as she knew she was still becoming my apprentice. I do so love surprising people and we began the ceremony under that guise. Dux Darius, to who Yolande is in fealty as part of a ducal household (Dukes and Duchesses only, besides reigning royalty, may have royal households and retinues)so we had to work out the fealty between her and Darius and me. Plus she's on Ulf and Amanda's retinue for the reign.
We (the sneaky people) thought it a good seque for Their Majesties to solve the fealty problem. Yolande was truly surprised. At this point she is on vigil. She has not yet accepted the pelican. It will be up to her to inform Their Majesties when and if she wishes to accept.
Once we have a date, I will make sure that the populace knows as all are welcome at vigils to give their support or concerns.
In Service Naqiba Celdae the Seeker
I think that the most shocking part of Yolande being Put on Vigil for a Pel was that she was not already one. It was interesting how many people said something along the lines of ...."What do you mean they are making her a Pel, I thought she already was one." Her hard work would be legendary if two people were responsible, but she does it as one.... wow!
Well deserved and well earned and worth a whole passel of tears of joy.....
Congratulations!!!!!
Regards
Yusuf
and in rapier... There were two new members admitted into the OWS (Order of the White Scarf).
Enoch Sutherland, current Champion of Tir Righ, and Magdelena Kress, formerly cadet to Don Diarmuid de Rosas. Shortly after that Magdelena was made a Laurel for her contribution and work in textiles.
The winner of Gerhard's Rispote is Alejandro Montoya of Lionsdale
and... The new Rapier defender of Lions Gate is Estaban de Ferreiro I think that between all the posts today that about sums it up.
MIC for Rapier Lasairiona
As well, there's Angyntir who was made a laurel as well for his excellent metalwork and helmwork.
congratulations to everyone Naqiba Celdae
I'd like to recognize someone who was not recognized in court. My daughter had spilled a rather full drink in the middle of the floor that evening. As I was on my hands and knees wiping up the acres and acres of ooze, I was happily surprised to find Viscount Sir Kheron (who was Prince at the time) on his hands and knees, in all of his royal finery, scrubbing away with me.
What a beautiful way to show your true colours, Sir. You make that white belt look good. Thank you for showing to all what true chivalry looks like.
And thanks to those other pairs of hands that I saw helping me clean up. I'm sorry that I cannot remember what your faces were; I was dreadfully ill at the time.
My heart is lightened by the caring helpful people this Kingdom is filled with.
Cheers, Ciannait
