Directions

  • Getting to 101 from the north.

There's no really great way to get to 101 from the I-5 corridor, but here are the different options:

1) From Portland, Hwy 26 will take you to the coast, and then you can follow 101 all the way down the state. On the upside, it's scenic and if you have the time, there's some nice stuff to see in the cities along the way. On the downside, it will take longer than staying on I-5 as long as possible and it's not a ride for the faint of stomach.
2) From Portland, you can also get on 99 and take it to McMinnville, then get on 18 out to Lincoln City. Shorter drive, but the road isn't as straight.
3) From Corvallis, you can get on 20 or 34. Both go to the coast, but 34 will put you out significantly farther south.
4) From Eugene, you can take 126 to Florence.
5) The shortest distance you can make the drive in from points north of Roseburg is to exit I-5 onto 99 toward Drain, and from Drain take 38 to Reedsport. The drive follows a river and is less twisty than the rest of these routes.
  • Getting to 101 from the south.

No one with experience coming from the south has volunteered any info yet.

  • From all points north or south:

Take the most expedient route to Hwy 101. Make a left or right as appropriate onto Ophir Rd. Make an almost immediate left onto Euchre Creek Rd. The site is about a mile inland.

  • From 101 to the north:

Be careful about the left turn. Ophir Rd. is at the bottom of a long, fairly steep hill and it comes up quickly.

  • From 101 to the south:

Conversely, from the south you can see a big hill in front of you and the right turn onto Ophir Rd is just before it.
