Event Highlights

Hear you these words of the first court of Their Royal Majesties, King Skeggi and Queen Taisiia in the Shire of Shittimwoode on the 8th day of January, Anno Societatis XXXIX, being 2005 in the Common Era. Their Majesties were attended in Court by the Prince and Princess of the Summits, Kaðall Blarauga and Nadezhda Volynskaiia, the Prince and Princess of Avacal, Vik Vikingsson and Inga the Unfettered and the Prince and Princess of Tir Righ, Ulf and Bernadette.

Their Majesties were dressed in the scythian style wearing pale yellow linen coats. His Majesty's coat had appliqued designs in black and shades of green and camel over a white linen shirt embroidered in crimson. Down the front of the coat were bronze metal ravens. Her Majesty's coat had beautiful appliqued designs in crimson leather and down the sleeves were sewn plaques of scythian style deer. Her Majesty's scarlet skirt was all over embroidered with fine gold metal thread, while His Majesties trousers of olive green were appliqued with the same crimson leather as Her coat.

Their Majesties called forth Master Andras Truemark and Sir Qorin Khanna who were then given the honor of being named Kingsmen. Huzzah!

Master Sir Torfin Torgulsson, Captain of the King's Guard, called forth his company to swear fealty to the Crown. They came and knealt before the Crown and Court, pledging their faith, support and fealty. And the Crown did swear in return to protect them and their families so long as they remain sovereigns or death take them. At this point, King Skeggi did lead them from the room for words in private.

Her Ladyship, Aradia de Benandanti, Principal Lady in Waiting, called forth the Queen's companions to swear fealty to the Crown. Queen Taisiia decended from Her throne to stand among Her ladies in waiting where they did speak privately for some moments before pledging their love, loyalty and fealty. And the Queen, for her part, did stand oathbound to care for them in return.

Riddari Raoukinn Eyverska, Captain of the Queen's Guard, called forth her company to pledge their faith to the Crown. The company did kneel before Their Sovereign to give homage. The Queen, for her part, did swear to protect and defend them.

King Skeggi, by now having returned to the Court, called for Jarl Dak Ulfredsson, Duke of An Tir. Jarl Dak approached and after a brief consultation, flame-tressed Dagmaer was called forward to receive the rank and title of Grevinde. Escorted into the presence by Duke Thorin, the coronet was placed upon her bowed head by the hand of the Queen.

Thus spake Jarl Dak in a mighty voice that resounded through the hushed chamber:

From Ymir’s flesh was the world formed
From his blood the sea billows flowed
Hills from his bones, trees from his hair
Heaven’s sky from his skull

So from the West, ripped bright An Tir
Sixth time Thorin sought, eyed Dagmaer’s tresses
Thrones Leonis together they shared
This gift earned by beauty and grace

Smithyed by that wiley wave trainer
Sibling to Champions symbol, Princess' pride
Brightens now this ring your brow
Boasting ever of An Tir, well served

Presenting Grevinde Dagmaer with a blood red rose, the Queen welcomed her to the Order of the Rose and bade her to be as she has ever been, a model of honor and grace to the ladies of the Realm. Well please were the attending populace as they cheered the new Grevinde. Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

Black Lion Principal Herald, Lord Frederic Badger, had business in Their Majesties Court. Dressed in the robes of his office, he declared his intent to step down at September Crown and is accepting applications for his replacement.

Lo, the members of the Barony of Madrone did present to Their Majesties many skilled and carefully crafted gifts of largesse. The names of the makers and donors where announced for all to hear and wonder at their fine generosity.

The Moneyers Guild presented Their Royal Majesties with special coins made for Their reign. The holders of Royal Commissions were called forth and had their commissions renewed.

Gifts were exchanged among those seated on the Royal dais. And having no further business, thus ended the court of King Skeggi and Queen Taisiia.

Long live the King!

Long live the Queen!

Long live the Prince and Princess of the Summits!

Long live the Prince and Princess of Avacal!

Long live the Prince and Princess of Tir Righ!

An Tir! An Tir! An Tir!

Personal Memories

This was a memorable event for me as it was the first time I was the contingency deputy autocrat to HL Flora. I can't say that I remember too many details, though! Mostly running around, making sure people had what they needed when they needed it, pretty normal routine, really. HL Dar von Leo, a good friend of mine, was called up to receive his Goutte de Sang and wasn't available since he was off site making sure our signs were good. He has been the Shittimwoode sign-o-crat for years. That and the Queen remarked how odd my expresion was when she gave me the Forget-me-Not! Odd? Yes, but it was more of exhaustion than anything else! --Quentin Martel

Mostly what I remember is the snow! A lot of people didn't attend because of the weather, but it was perfectly clear until just north of Burlington, when, as if a line had been drawn on a map, the snow appeared! By the time we got to Bellingham there was lots of snow but driving was still pretty easy. And of course, once we were at the site, we didn't need to drive much. Once there, I remember the scavenger hunt and running around asking to borrow weird stuff for our team! -- Wenyeva atte grene
