After several years of searching I finally found the SCA in June of AS XVII thanks to Edward Ian Anderson. He introduced me to the MacFlandry Guard and helped me learn about the SCA. My first event was July Coronation. I turned 18 at that event. Torgul and Angharad were crowned for the first time (see photo in the Torgul and Angharad link, I'm in the background holding an ax). I stood guard on the thrones with the MacFlandry's during the Coronation ceremony. By today's standards it was a tiny event maybe 200 people and only a few period pavilions.

I met Sam Shieldbate on Sunday morning at the Black Kettle Breakfast (back when Black Kettle could hold a pancake feed and feed the whole event!). Sam was still up and drunk from the night before. At that time Sam was hanging out with the Guccis. At subsequent events I met the Guccis, and started hanging out with them. I used to get in trouble with my SCA guardians - Edward Ian Anderson and Garan Steingrimson - for playing with those loud and obnoxious Gucci boys. One hot July Coronation, about AS XIX, I was standing guard over an empty throne in the blazing sun when Sam brought me a beer. I realized then that the MacFlandry Guard was not the place for me. I've been with the Gucci/Al Khabeelah household ever since.

In AS XXI, while living in the Kingdom of the West, I registered my name and device - Argent, a peacock proper in his pride, a bordure invected purpure.

In AS XXIV Thorin and Angharad gave me my AoA at Ursulmas. Angharad also asked me to be on her retinue.

In AS XXX at 3YC I won the title World's Most Chivalrous Tablero player. I won by conceding the Ladies World Tablero Championship to Talia banu-Khabeelah.

In AS XLIII at September Crown I was made a Court Baroness by Their Majesties Uther and Kara of the Kingdom of the West.

I was elevated to Cardinal of the Holy Roman Catholic Apostolic Christian Church of An Tir Inc. by Pope Giorgio Ringo XXIV. I was also given an Archbisopric by Pope Populus Iratus.

I was a member of Madrone's Company of the Horse many years ago and I am currently a member of the Equestrian Guild. Since I do not have a horse any longer I'm not very active.

My favorite events used to be Norse Midsummer and Egils (back when Egils was held by the reservoir). Now my favorite events are Clinton (Workweek and War), Ithras, Warren War and Sir Eddie's.

For the last several years I have been studying the history of agriculture through the medieval period. I'm also learning target archery, sewing and dyeing.

I can be found at events camped within the blast radius of the Khabeelah Tent. I live in a white French bell with purple seam stripes.

An example of Her Eminence's artwork can be found at the baths located on the Clinton grounds

.

Another stunning example of Mahala's painting skills. Good friend and house mate. Rébeca de la Mare assisted in the creation of this piece of art.

Greetings An Tir,

As is the way with all who live we all pass. Mahala who was one of our best has moved away from life as we know it. She was always there to help people and was a great fan of the old school medieval projects like this Wiki and the History is neat project. Her history is neat tracts will be uploaded to the wiki as time permits. She will be sorely missed by her household and many friends that she has made in the Society from the last 25+ years. She passed in the midst of her husband and many of her close friends who were sitting a living wake at her home in Seattle last Saturday at 11:20 pm the 25th of September 2010. Raise your glasses one of our mighty has fallen.

Regards Yusuf / Banjo

Mahala was one of my first and greatest teachers, her lessons were incalculably valuable to my progression in the Society. Her absence will be sorely and poignantly missed in the Khabeelah Tent, the Kingdom, and to everyone who made her acquaintance. She wielded unwavering class, unmatched generosity, and unswerving frankness like weapons, thus, inspiring several generations of new folks to heartily embrace the Society's altruistic ideals. So I raise my mug and say Skol! one last time to my most dearest of friends. May the doors of Odin's cabinets be slightly ajar upon your arrival to His sturdy halls. --Hjlmr inn Danski
