Viscountess Anne of Caerdydd served as the third Baroness of Madrone with her lord, Theodulf of Borogrove from 12 February AS XI / 1977 to 3 November AS XIX / 1984.
History
Anne and Theodulf first learned about something called the SCA in the Spring of 1972 and began to attend events in the area. They remained very active for over a decade and raised their daughters in this community.
Her name was originally Anne of Cardiff, a combination of her middle name and her family heritage. Upon studying that history more carefully she modify her name to the Welsh spelling of that city.
Anne was a founding member of the Madrone Culinary Guild and ran the baronial sewing guild. She was also one of the founders of the University of Ithra.
Coronet of An Tir
Upon the victory of her lord at the Coronet Tourney on July 10 AS XI (1976) they became Prince and Princess and reined from September 11 AS XI (1976} to January 22 AS XI (1977). They worked to expand participation in principality activities and establish customs that were met with the satisfaction of the populace.
Barony of Madrone
Upon the retirement of Liam and Deirdre, Theodulf and Anne became the third Baron and Baroness of Madrone from February 12 AS XI (1977) to November 3 AS XIX (1984). Their home The Borogrove became the baronial court for regular meetings and home of the baronial library, as well as frequent meeting location for the Culinary Guild.
Working with her lord, and with the Baron Gerhard and Baroness Amanda of Lions Gate, she created the title of Sergeant and lead the tournaments to select members of this order for the duration of her rein as Baroness.
Anne continued to participate in and host the Madrone Culinary Guild, and provided many of the recipes in their first cookbooks.
She also remained active in the needle arts, turning more of her attention to tapestry weaving. The royal kneeling pillow with the Arms of An Tir that was used for many years was her creation.
