Note: Insula Magna is not a branch - it can't be, since only Principalities and Kingdoms can be made up of a group of branches, hence it has no official existence. At the moment, the name cannot be registered as the only way to do so would be as a household name, and Insula Magna is not acceptable to the College of Heralds as such. However, the badge has been registered and is freely available for use by all who live within Insula Magna's precincts.
Insula Magna (Latin for great island) is how Vancouver Island is often referred to within An Tir.
Branches
There were at one time, six branches on the Great Isle, plus one which plays with us more often than elsewhere:
Current Branches

- The Shire of Hartwood - Nanaimo & area from Duncan to Campbell River, out to Port Alberni
- The Barony of Seagirt - Victoria & area
Inactive or Former Branches
- The Shire of Cragmere - Courtenay - Comox - Campbell River (repatriated to Hartwood)
- The Port of Crickstow-on-Sea - CFB Esquimalt Medieval Club
- The Shire of Ravensley - Port Alberni, Parksville, Qualicum Beach & Coombs area (repatriated to Hartwood)
- Saint Giles College - University of Victoria Medieval Club
Activities
There was an Insula Magna Campus serving this area in the University of Ithra.
Information Sources
Insula Magna once had an unofficial website, The Insula Magna Blue Pages (http://bluepage.tirrigh.org). (Not being an offfical branch, it can't have an offical site.) The site had a Calendar and popular Forums for the Island. Originally started as the Upper Island Blue pages, their mandate changed to include the Barony of Seagirt, so all groups were represented on the Blue Pages. Note: The website has been defunct as of 2012.
