Our Prince Marries Our Princess

(A "Keeper" posting from the North Road, the e-mail list of Tir Righ. June 2007)

I would like to take a moment to bring to your attention a very, very special event in the history of Tir Righ, An Tir, and quite possibly the SCA as a whole.

As many of you know, Prince Ulf is the most successful coronet tournament fighter in the history of Tir Righ. Of the nine coronet tournaments that we’ve ever had, he’s been eligible for 6 of them. Of those 6, he’s been in the finals 5 times. And won 4 of those finals.

Those previous reigns have been with different Princesses: Amira Celdae, Princess Bernadette, and Princess Amanda. But none of these wonderful ladies were Prince Ulf’s love. Our former A&S champion, Caoimhinn is.

In 10 days, Prince Ulf Bloodfoot Fallgrson is marrying Princess Caoimhinn ingen Domnaille. This is their actual modern, legal marriage that we’re talking about. This means that for the first time in Tir Righ history, our Landed Prince is marrying our Landed Princess! How many times has that ever happened in the history of An Tir? Or in the history of the SCA for that matter?
