Hours: Site opens at 10AM, and closes at 10PM.
Please join Their Excellencies Conchobar and Eilidh, as well as Their Royal Majesties of An Tir, King Havordh and Queen Mary-Grace, as we celebrate the Yule Season and the end of another glorious year for the Barony.
Fees: Site fee will be $10 per person, with youth 17 and under free. NMS of $5 does apply for non-members. Make checks available to ‘SCA, Inc.; Barony of Dragon’s Laire’. There is no pre-reg for the site fee.
Note: This is a DRY site. Bone dry. No alcohol at all.
Ithra
The Ithra schedule is done and ready. Pre-reg will be available on the website this week. There will be registration on-site for those classes that still have openings. Here is the description of the classes

- Roman Hairstyles
- HE Eilidh
- Hours: 4 Materials fee: $2
- Min: 2 Max. 10
- Learn how to create authentic Roman hairstyles. By using braiding and sewing techniques, medium to long length hair can be styled to emulate the portrait busts of Empress Sabina and Faustina the Younger. We will also look at the Vestal hairstyle.
- Instructor Supplied Materials: Wool or cotton thread, large needles and handouts.
- Student Supplied Materials: Bring your own hairbrush/comb.
- The SCA - An intro to our customs and quirks.
- Dame Brighid
- Hours: 2 Materials fee: $1
- Min. 3 Max. 30
- Who we are, what we do, where we came from and where we are going and why we do the things we do: a conversation about the SCA.
- Instructor Supplied Materials: Handout
- Basic 14th Century Hoods
- Mrq. Laurellen

- Min. 3 Max. 30
- This class will begin with an overview of hoods/liripipes from the 14th & early 15th centuries. Students will be guided through making a pattern that fits them. Construction and embellishment techniques will also be discussed along with some demonstration and examples.

- Student Supplied Materials: Note taking materials.
- Basic Embroidery
- Dame Madrun
- 2 hours Materials fee: $4
- Min. 3 Max. 6
- This class will provide an introduction to the basics of embroidery. Students will learn 10 stitches and their variations
- Instructor Supplied Materials: Needles, thread, handout, fabric, some hoops available.
- Students should bring scissors, and an embroidery hoop if they have one.
- Noon – 1pm - Lunch time lecture.
- Medieval Yule

- Hours: 2 Materials fee: $2

- Yule was an entirely different celebration in Period. Come learn what the differences are between how it is perceived now, and what it was like back then. Learn where the celebration originated, and how it changed through time. Learn what your persona might have done to enjoy and honor the Season.

- Basic Quill and Reed Pen Cutting
- HL Ella
- Hours: 4 Materials fee: $8
- Min. 3 Max. 10
- This hands on class will cover tempering and cutting a flight feather to create a sturdy, flexible quill, carving a reed pen for early script hands (as well as Arabic and Hebrew), and time for practice with your new scribal tool. We will also discuss various types of commercially available inks and paper stock which will be provided at this class for practicing with the quill and reed pen.
- Instructor Supplied Materials: flight feathers, reeds, pen knife, temper equipment, handouts, ink and calligraphy paper
- Student Supplied Materials: Some pen knives, exacto knives and box cutters will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own.

- A beginners class on dancing for enjoyment in the SCA. We will cover a range of dances and styles, from slow to fast, to give the novice dancer some exposure into the dances often seen around An Tir. This will include positioning, reverence, basic steps and alternate styles. Dances will include Pavanne, Bransle, Alleman, English Country, and 'SCA Perioid' dances.
- Instructor Supplied Materials: A simplified dance manual with basic steps, an introduction to dance, and ideas on where to go to learn more on the subject of dance.
- Student Supplied Materials: Comfortable walking shoes and loose fitting clothing that will allow for easy movement.
- Introduction To SCA Combat For Non-Fighters

- Are you new to the SCA and curious about fighting activities, but weren’t sure who to ask? We’ll talk about the different types of combat that occur at SCA events, commands and customs you’ll witness, the role of various personnel on the field, and how you can get involved. Pictures included.
- Materials for students to bring: A chair if we’re not in a formal classroom. Note taking supplies if desired.
- SCA Pants for Beginners – Quick and Easy

- Course Description: How to make a quick pair of SCA pants that will work for fighting, camping or any activity
1:30-3:30pm
- Beginning Fingerloop Braiding
- Magistra Aelianora
- Hours: 2 Materials fee: $3
- Min.2 Max. 8
- Fingerloop Braiding is a simple and fairly easy way to make cords which has been done throughout history. The cords are quite strong and useful for things like ties, short lacings and decorations. There are several later period original resources which describe fingerloop braiding and how to do it. We will be going over some of those, and one or two (or more if we have time) basic braids in class.
- Instructor Supplied Materials: Strings/fibers for braiding. Instructional Handout. Simple equipment for anchoring the braid.
- Student Supplied Materials: Bring glasses for close up work if you need them. Bring scissors for cutting the strings and cord.
Feast
The fabulous feast which will be prepared by Countess Elisabeth de Rossignol and Mistress Rafaella di Contino is now FULL. Off board space is also FULL.
If you have a confirmed feast reservation, please send the Feast Fee of $8 per person is due two weeks before the event (November 21, 2015). If the feast fee is not received by that time, we will offer the seat to the next person on the waiting list. Mail feast fees made out to “Barony of Dragon’s Laire – SCA Inc.”
The It will be a period Italian meal, and will include chicken, pork, and cheesecake, plus side dishes. Please address *any* questions you have on the feast to Countess Elizabeth.
Everyone is encouraged to bring your own table clothes and table decorations, to make your experience as festive as possible. The tables are round (except for head table), and will seat 7-8 people. Be prepared to be very friendly and share tables.
In addition to the feast, there will be a simple soup/bread lunch available for a suggested donation of $3. No pre-reg for this one, just have exact change on site. Countess E will be the lunch lady.

Schedule
Here is the tentative schedule:
- Site opens for autocrat team at 8 AM
- Site opens for Ithra registration at 9:15 AM
- Site opens for non-Ithra attendees at 10 AM
- Coffee and hot water, plus maybe light refreshments for a donation, will be available in the morning
- Ithra classes begin at 10 Am and will run to 4 PM in three classrooms, with a lunch break at 12-1
- Family Activities will run throughout the day from 10 AM to 3 PM (in the main hall, coordinated by Dame Angharad). If you have any questions on Family Activities, contact Dame Angharad.
- A scribal event will happened sometime between 10 AM to 3 PM (in one of the classrooms, and will be coordinated by Lady Ela)
- Heraldic consultation will happen between 10 AM to 3 PM in the same classroom as scribal.
- An A&S display sponsored by The Dragon’s Pearls (A&S order in the Barony of Dragon’s Laire) will be in another classroom from 10 AM to 3 PM
- A light lunch of soup and bread will be available 12 PM to 1 PM, for a fee of $3
- Dance (for Ithra credit) will happen in the main hall from 1 PM to 3 PM.
- The Hall will be the gathering place for the populace all day until feast and court. We are hoping to have games in addition to dancing. Bring your projects and handwork!
- Court/Feast set-up will begin at 3 PM
- Court begins at 4 PM, with one hour allotted for each Baronial and Royal (that means get your award recommendations in!)
- Feast begins at 6 PM or immediately after Court, whichever comes first. Note: there may be some court activities from the Crown during feast.
- Clean up must begin no later than 9 PM. Earlier than that is better.
- Site closes at 10 PM

Things to take note of and remember:
- This is a DRY SITE.
- Smoking areas will be marked clearly.
- Another church event will happen that day. Off limit areas will be clearly marked
