SCA History

Lady Yasmina Laveroc is the current Bardic Mistress of Seagirt. Lady Yasmina and her lord, Pierre D'Argent, currently host a bardic circle every second friday at their house.

The alternating Fridays are bespoken by members of the Seagirt barony, and bardic can be hosted at any home. Lady Yasmina is currently under the tutelage of Lady Aria de Lyons, learning to play the harp and entertain people. In the last year, Lady Yasmina has worked on a number of filks, original songs, and cooperative pieces of SCA music.

=List of Filks

  • "Shark" ~ A filk on the popular song 'Mouse' hosting the same melody. "Shark" is a more family friendly version detailing the antics of several members who enjoy 'sharking'; otherwise known as stealing a persons place in a dance during the dancing.
  • "The Brave Boy Knight" ~ Based on a true story. This song is done to the melody of "Greensleeves", and follows the story of a young mundane boy who was knighted by the King of the Midrealms. The child is sick, and when the "Help fill a Wish Foundation" asks the boy what he wants, he replies that, all his life he has wanted to be a knight. The King trains the boy, knights him, but then shortly after has to say goodbye. The last stansa, and probably the most emotional of the piece, is provided below:

Ne'er before, and ne're again
Was a boy so sworn to fight.
That started out,
A mundane child,
And died a Brave Boy Knight.

Original Songs

  • "The Lyres Lifting Sound" ~ A poem, soon to be put to music, about a young man napping in the woods who follows the sound of a bard playing through the glen.
  • "Arm to Arm" ~ Her newest work centering on the Sealion War this coming week. She will be performing in at the Bardic Circle there.

Co-operative Works

  • "Violet Bides" ~ Patrick Rothfuss wrote the last verse to this song in "A Wise Man's Fear", and Lady Yasmina found it, put it to music, and wrote out 5 verses to complete the song. The music is done to the harp.
  • "Come With Me" ~ The lyrics to this piece are entirely Alison Bairds, Yasmina simply put them to music.

Come one and come all to Mistress Yasmina's bardic Circle. Please feel free to write to Jazzykinns at gmail dot com concerning any bardic questions.
