Event Highlights

Their Majesties Ieuan and Gwyneth decreed that May Crown be held at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds to choose Their heirs.

May Crown was hosted by the Shire of Dregate with invaluable assistance from Inlands branches. Weather was sunny with highs in the low to mid 70s F and lows in the low to mid 40sF with occasional gusty winds. The shire erected a 20-foot canvas gate and several hundred feet of canvas wall, all painted to look like a castle, and the site, though most of it was contained within the fairgrounds race track allowed for equestrian and archery activities in addition to the tournaments.

Personal Memories

While the forecast promised winds would be light, brief gusts dropped from the skies on Friday to the discomfiture of some of the merchants. Saturday afternoon, the mother of all dust devils flipped tents, including the Event Steward team kitchen. Though bereft of their shelter and several implements, the team provided supper that evening -- a miraculous feat!

Blessings rained down as well: I had an amazing team who did all I asked and more. It was a wonderful experience to work with such talent and dedication. Many gentles from throughout An Tir also leaped in to render aid to merchants and others affected by the pesty winds, which warmed many more hearts than mine alone. A thousand thanks to you all! -- Julia Sempronia
