Emelyn Fulredy first encountered medieval reenactors in the fourth grade, when they visited her elementary school class and talked about life in the middle ages. It stuck with her permanently as one of the greatest things she had ever seen. When she heard of the Society in high school and college, she tried to find local meetings, but had no luck. Then, on one fateful journey home from the grocery store, she spotted a plywood sign by the side of the road. It bore a plain shield and three familiar letters. With a sudden yelp of "Follow that sign!" and a startled screech of tires, life quadrupled in awesomeness.
Emelyn is now happily cocooned in a gigantic pile of heraldry in Terra Pomaria. Her husband (the tire-screecher, bless his heart) is Gregory de Munemuth, who is less active in the society, but supports Emelyn by entertaining their two young sons, Daniel and Noah. If you meet him, please challenge him to a game of chess! Their family and guests loosely comprise Human House, which is... mostly just silly.
Armorial research, design, and consulting are Emelyn's primary passions. She also loves onomastics and is enjoying learning the "voice" side of heraldry. Her other interests include period music (for voice, recorder, or pipe and tabor), scribal arts (mainly drawing and calligraphy), persona development, and backgammon.
Emelyn is currently participating in Terra Pomaria's sergeantry program, working to become a courtier. She was given a Silver Apple in late 2013, and received an Award of Arms a year later from Diego and Taraneh.
Persona
In persona, Emelyn and Gregory are Lincolnshire folk of exactly 700 years ago, which makes this 1314 for them. Their aesthetic and historical touchstone is the Luttrell Psalter.
Emelyn was born in Cambridge to a lay astronomer and his wife. Gregory is the second son of a Knight Hospitaller who disappeared shortly after settling his family in recently-conquered Wales. After working all his life to become a priest, Gregory dropped out of his schooling just weeks shy of receiving tonsure in order to marry Emelyn instead. Fleeing north from the ensuing scandal, they ended up in Lincoln. There they earned the favor and patronage of an eccentric vicar who now employs Gregory as a clerk, courier, and tutor at the magnificent new Lincoln Cathedral. Emelyn helps with these tasks on occasion, and otherwise is kept busy by running her household, finding a few spare moments here and there to draw, play her pipe, or privately study heraldry. But she has these strange, recurring dreams about living in a faraway kingdom called An Tir...
