Voice of the Turtle
The Voice of the Turtle was the name of a medieval/folk musical group consisting of Roger Shell (Roger the Goliard), Kathleen Hendrickson (Maleen of Gamaliel), David Bigelow (David of Bagulay) from the Barony of Madrone.
According to the timeline “The History of the Barony of Madrone”: February 19, 1972 Valentine's Day Revel Held at the Newman Center, Seattle, Washington. Jaicinth of the Lion's Gate was autocrat. Gerard and Marie of Wedgewood were the King and Queen of Hearts. The Singing Turtle, composed of Roger the Goliard, David of Baguley, and Maleen of Gamaliel, made its debut and sang.
The trio seems to have continued for two years during the early events in Madrone, including the House of York Tournament and Revel in July 1972.
By 1973, they are performing widely and reported in local newspapers as well as noted in the SCA.

At the first Coronet Tourney in An Tir, Their Occidental Majesties, Henrik and Seitse, presented a Royal Appointment charter to The Voice of the Turtle.1
In early 1973, Roger and Kathleen married. When they divorced at the end of 1974, it appears that was the end of the Voice of the Turtle as a group, though some of the individuals would continue to perform music.
