Viscountess Ieuan and Viscountess Gwyneth left Their Highnesses’ presence and then returned to swear fealty.
Members of the Order of the Rose and of the Order of the Valorous Estate were called forth. Hleafdige Thora Golvik, first Princess of Tir Righ, explained to the populace the significance of the Princess’ Talon bead. Viscountess Gwyneth was welcomed into the Order of Valorous Estate and presented with a box of the beads she used during her reign.

Her Highness Princess Amanda knelt before Prince Ulf, thanked Him for fighting for Her in Tir Righ’s Coronet Tourney and presented Prince Ulf with a book (created by Leah of Surrey).
The Prince’s Guards were called forth and did swear fealty. His Highness presented His Guard with their Retinue identifiers, being a red and green hood embellished with His Highness’ symbol (a beaver). Viscountess Bernadette Ebhilin Ard was appointed Captain of the Prince’s Guard.
Her Highness’ Ladies in Waiting were called forth, knelt to swear fealty and were given their Retinue identifiers, being blue pouches with Her Highness’ fret in the centre of white stars stencilled on blue fabric.
The Princess’ Guards were called forth, knelt to swear fealty and were their Retinue identifiers, being blue armbands with Her Highness’ fret upon blue fabric stencilled with white stars. Her Highness Amanda explained to the populace that Her Guard includes A&S Guards, who will provide Arts and Sciences service to the Principality throughout Her Reign. Sir Griffin ap Bedwyr, not present at Investiture, is the Captain of the Princess’ Guard.
On behalf of Their Highnesses, the Court Herald read out “Thanks to Algae McBeign for creating all the armbands, many hands helped create the pouches.” A correction was then read out “Vivien made all the pouches, Algae did the majority of the armbands.”
Children serving Their Highnesses as Pages were called forth, knelt to swear fealty and were given their Retinue identifiers, being blue and white tabards.
The Royal Retinue were called forth, knelt to swear fealty and were given their Retinue identifiers, being armbands with a white crown upon blue fabric stencilled with white stars. Mistress Yrsa Kettilsdottir is the Head-of-Retinue, Her Ladyship Yolande Chastellain is the Assistant-Head-of-Retinue.
Jarl Hwolf Einarson then came before Their Highnesses, knelt and swore on his father’s sword “As a sworn knight of Tir Righ in all except my oath in arms in which I am bound to my King, I bind myself now and forever more to the thrones of Tir Righ and my Princess Amanda. My thanks, Ulf, for putting Her here.”
The populace of Tir Righ were invited to come forward and swear fealty to Their Highnesses and many did come forward, kneel and so swear.
His Lordship Edrik ap Pengam, Gamesmaster to Their Highnesses, did speak to the populace. His Lordship will be running a reign-long games tournament as asked by Their Highnesses. Every event Their Highnesses attend will have a games tourney, a different game at each event, and at the conclusion of Their Reign a prize will be awarded to the overall winner. Edrik announced that the first game would be “Cross and Pile” (also known as “flip a coin”) and that it would begin at 9:30am on Sunday.
Her Highness Amanda then spoke to the populace, firstly about the Blue Helm Tourney. In this form of combat, children wear foam helmets and fight with a foam sword. If it is legal – and She asked autocrats to check with the marshalls – then at each event Princess Amanda will have a Blue Helm Champion who will sit in Their Court. Secondly, Her Highness asked the populace to do at least one thing per event – cover their cooler, use a tankard instead of a bottle – one thing to make our events more enjoyable.
For the comfort of Their populace, Their Highnesses called a ten minute recess.
Through the Grace of Their Majesties of An Tir, King Uther and Queen Angharad, Their Highnesses Ulf and Amanda presented Morgan Kidd with an Award of Arms.
Mistress Yrsa Kettilsdottir stepped down after serving the Principality as Arts & Sciences Minister. Viscountess Ksenia Einarsdottir was sworn in as Tir Righ’s new Arts & Sciences Minister.

In honour of Master Siegfriend the Immane, Her Excellency was wearing his purple overtunic and in honour of her father Sir Gerhard Kendal of Westmoreland Her Excellency wore a gold undertunic made by her mother Her Highness, and worn by her father. "This weekend has been an absolutely incredible experience for me. I have had an absolute nightmare of car problems which have cumulated in my not going home today. I have been shown in so many ways what an incredible group the members of the SCA really are. I have no words to express what I feel and thank you just does not come close but it really is all I have. So thank you. Thank you to all the people who helped with love, with rides, with crash space and with money. Thank you to all who cared and all who understood. You have all re-affirmed my love for this society and for you all. Thank you."

Personal Memories
I have three very clear "snapshot" memories from the Investiture Ceremony:
- The Prince's guard are (almost?) all women. As they processed in, they thumped their spears on the floor. (I remember thinking to myself "Please don't dent the floor, we want to use this hall again. Please don't dent the floor...")
- The resounding cheering when Ulf announced Princess Amanda to the populace. The rafters rocked.
- The size of Amanda's retinue: It's very big and she has included folks from all over the principality. (Smart lady -- no matter where she goes in the Principality, she'll have local folks as retinue.) Her Highness has Heavy Guard, a Rapier Guard, an Archery Guard and an Arts and Sciences Guard (who no doubt will throw themselves between Their Highnesses and any occurrences of polyester+). I have no doubt that the 'royal education' of a future prince or princess of Tir Righ was begun by becoming one of Her Highness's attendants.
Oh my goodness, the banquet food was TERRIFIC. The candied mint leaves and rose petals were divine.
We made just a touch over $500 on the dessert auction for the Principality.
+ "...occurrences of polyester" Sunjan is on the A&S Guard, it's her line. I stole it.
Yes, the Prince's Guards that processed in were/are all female.
I remember the dancing that followed dinner, both having the opportunity to dance (with new people, too!), and learning new dances. My thanks for those opportunities!
A resounding "Huzzah!" to the organizers and all their staff for an event well-done!

I have two huge memories from this event.
First, as the room was shaking with the thunderous ovation for Amanda, it finally dawned on me that somehow, someway, I drew perhaps the luckiest straw for any herald in An Tir: I was the herald who was doing the ceremony to elevated Amanda Kendal of Westmoreland to Royalty. Wow.
Second, I also got to be the one to herald the County scroll of my lady, Jacyntha Elizabeth Argentarius. A great weekend!
As part of the Autocrat's Team, I was pleased to see our guests enjoying themselves throughout the weekend. Highlights; the quality of garb; the many people who played the period games we provided; the many people who pitched in to help; Duncan Darroch's awe inspiring effort as Dessert Auctioneer; Domina Julilla Sempronia's always excellent performance of Virgil's Copa; the victory of my friend Enoch Jacobsz van Zuidenland to become our Principality's Rapier Champion and ... most importantly on a personal note; the appreciation expressed by our guests for the amazing feast created by my Lady wife Keinna de Savage and delivered by her team. It was heartening to see the good gentles of our Principality express what I have known for years; Keinna Lady de Savage is an artist in the kitchen.
As an aside; What many do not know is that Keinna plants and tends our vegetable and herb gardens specifically for her upcoming feasts so the ingredients are natural and pesticide free.
