SUMMER HUNT VII Autocrat report by Lord Josephus Romanus (July 2012).

Summer Hunt returned to the Shire of Earnrokke to glorious weather and a great group of attendees.

I would like to thank the following people: HRM Vik for driving all the way down to spend the day at Summer Hunt. THL Angharad verch Reynulf for acting as our Lyst Mistress for Heavy Weapons. Murakami Tsuruko as the Equestrian Champion scorekeeper, and judge for both the A&S Championship judge and the Hunt Guild Persona Challenge. Mistress Mary Dedwydd verch Gwallter, [1] was visiting from the barony of Dreiburgen in Caid. She not only presided over the various auctions, leading a spirited and lively bidding war, but she was also the judge for the Best hunter Recipe at the Feast.

For Heavy Weapons, we had 5 competing fighters, plus HRM Vik did bye fights with several of them: Baron Styrr Inn Hersir Olafsson, the previous champion, won again. Lord Morgan from Shittimwoode, received the Best Chivalric fighter. This is a token that is bestowed by the Lystmistress, THL Angharad verch Reynulf. Other fine fighters who were competing for the championship were, Rayner, Conal, and Morrigan.

The Archery championship had about a dozen contenders and some were new to SCA. the champion was Etole Marchand, who had just stepped down previously as our shire Thrown Weapons Champion.

The Equestrian Championship had 7 contenders. The Champion was m’lady Gwenevere McClelland. Thanks to THL Duncan Taddio for inviting a whole slew of new riders and ground crew. Altogether 3 new riders and 3 new groundcrew were authorized. Even HRM Vik participated in the Ride Auction, although the highest bid was on THL Duncan.

The Thrown Weapons was the best attended ever. Many new people were competing and the new Shire champion is THL Phydeaux Weir.

THL Marguerite fitzWilliam passed the Huntress Challenge and attained Veneur status. Keep tuned to her new webpage at www.huntguild.org .

The Potluck Feast was amazing as usual and presided over by Their Excellencies of Aquaterra, Steinolf and Sineidin Bean Thorain. Everyone was very generous and the repast was remarkable in diversity. The Dessert audition was a huge success and THL Giraldus’ chocolate torte garnered the highest bid. The best Hunter’s repast dish was made by THL Marguerite, who also used the recipe for her Huntress persona challenge.

The Arts and Sciences Champion was THL Donwenna La Mareschale for her Research paper on Hunting calls.

Closing Court was highlighted by awards presentation from HRM Vik. Andrew of Earnrokke and Jospehus Romanus received their Awards of Arms and THL Giraldus Evienece received a Goutte De Sang. All in all it was a great event and fun was had by all!
