Marie de Cherise la Foret's registered name is Marie de Cherisy, but was also known as Marie de Cheriseye la foret. Persona Anglo-Norman early 12th Century. Joined the SCA in A.S. 45. Particularly interested in the scribal arts.

I attended my first SCA Event in the summer of 2010; it was Lionsdale's Champions Tourney. In the fall I began attending the Lions Gate Scriptorium and at Sealion War in the summer of 2012 I was honoured to be chosen as Baroness Margaret's Inspiration for Arts and Sciences and then became the Baronial Scribe in late summer 2012. It was an honour to receive my Award of Arms from Prince Ulfgar and Princess Juahara at the Baroness's Inspirational Tourney in November 2013.I enjoy painting and some calligraphy styles and plan to continue after my term of office ends in September 2014. After four years in the SCA there are still many other activities I want to explore.

My Persona:

Marie de Cheriseye la foret written in the year 1106

I was born in Jorvik in the spring of the year 1088 to my father, Robert, a Norman knight, and my mother, Aelfrith, an Anglo-Saxon woman. I have a younger brother, also named Robert; he is training to be a squire for my father’s friend, Guy de Falaise. It was my mother’s wish that I learn to read and write and become a nun. My mother died just after Robert’s birth and since then I have looked after my father’s household and small-holding while he is away. I have a servant named Alys who helps in the kitchens. My mother’s sister, Aethelgifa, and her family live nearby and my cousins help with the small-holding. We raise sheep and pigs. One day I would like to travel to Normandy, to see the place of my father’s birth, Cherisy la foret. My father tells me there is a beautiful abbey there.
