Contests and Events

  • The Tourneys
    • The Crown Lists fought in May have been declared invalid and will be refought on Saturday. Only those fighters who competed in the May Crown will be allowed to compete. They and their prospective consorts must have been members of the SCA for 3 months prior to the date of the May Crown Tourney.
    • An Tir Champion's List will be fought on Sunday.
  • The drawing for the Seneschalate raffle will be held during the event. Tickets available from the local Seseschal.
  • Baroness Anne of Caerdydd will sponsor a contest for the best historical ballad or story of the History of An Tir. This will be judged at the bardic circle.
  • Laffer Telynor will sponsor a contest for the presentation of an authentic period song. Documentation is required. The judging criteria will be: quality of musicianship, authenticity of arrangement, quality of song, and quality of performance. Minimum of 3 entrants required. This will be judged at the bardic circle.
  • Black Kettle will sponsor a period preserved fruits and vegetables contest. For details contact Lady Liesel von Langenthal
  • The will be a Black Kettle Breakfast Sunday Morning. It will include french toast, bacon, coffee, tea, juice, and cocoa for $1.75.
  • Anne of Cleavages will sponsor a contest for a mythical beast in bread dough. The size is not to exceed 1x1x2 feet. Skewers and toothpicks are permissible, but must be, otherwise, entirely edible. Entries will be tasted, but not eaten, unless the contestant wishes. The prize is a fancy ring cake pan.
  • Handmade Textiles - Any technique weaving, felting, lace, sprang, knitting, crochet. Fibers used may be commercial, do not have to be hand processed.
  • The College of Sciences will sponsor two contests. The first contest is for papers on the design and construction of a pavilion with material estimates and requirements. No example is required. Judging criteria will include authentic styling, sturdy construction (neither rain nor sleet nor gusty winds shall...), and portability. The second contest is for a research paper on the history and uses of at least three herbs, with an example on the use of one of them. The papers will be judged on the quality and completeness of the research and the application and usability in the current middle ages. The example should contain the herb as its main ingredientm e.g. a medicinal poultice or herb sauce for use with other foods.
