EVENT COPY

On the cold steppes of Artemisia, a new King rises and proclaims His Queen. Gleefully Gwenevere turns Her eyes westward to Her homeland of Lyonsmarche. Dearly does She remember the lentils and garbanzos of home and whispers words of encouragement. Through the winter He has gathered His forces and prepared them for the long march homeward. Soon the frozen hand of winter will lift and the passes will open; Dread Floki comes.

Yet all is not lost, for the inhabitants of Lyonsmarche, long used to the plundering of neighbors close and far, have sent scouts far afield to look for unwelcome guests. Camps were noted, fires counted, and communiques intercepted. Swift dispatches to An Tirian cousins have been sent, ties of old renewed, and war banners unfurled!

Will the Isle of Silcott fall to the ravening hordes of Artemisia, or will the Council of the Inlands once again keep Lyonsmarche safe for trade and livestock? And who will YOU fight for? Be you fighter (heavy and rapier), archer, brewer, or craftsman, all will contribute to their cause!

Event Steward: Phelan Tolusmidr (Bill Lillibridge). 1513 Airway Avenue, Lewiston, ID 83501; Phone 208-791-5039

Fees: Ages 18+ $20, under 18 free. Day Fees: Ages 18+ $15. $5 member discount applies.

Court Report

Honor War, April 21-23rd in Lyonsmarche. Reports from the east filtered in that bandits were attempting to make land at Silcott Island, in the heart of Lyonsmarche. In a show of solidarity, Artemisia sent a scouting party who arrived before much of An Tir did. They set up camp on the west side of the island and when An Tir showed up they setup on the east side. Come Saturday morning, the proposed plan was for the Artemisian army to swing around to the left, with An Tir swinging around to the right. Both armies had orders to kill the bandits and then report their findings. Bandits seemed to have snuck in during the night and stole some of the Artemisian noble’s armor before attempting to attack An Tir. During the fighting, Crimthann of Starfyre’s excellence and chivalry was noticed by King Styrkarr, who rewarded Crimthann with an Award of the Sable Gauntlet. An Tir rightfully dispatched these bandits and returned the Artemisian armor to their camp – only to discover that the bandits must have killed all the Artemisians in the night. Styrkarr, Warrior King, mourns for the losses of his fair cousin of Artemesia. Court was convened that evening by the Mighty Styrkarr and Radiant Stjarna, inviting Her Excellency of Wastekeep, Katherine; Their Excellency’s of Blatha An Oir, Gernon and Alyse; and Their Excellency’s of Wealdsmere, Lars and Kara to join them. Also invited into Court were Their Majesties of Artemisia, Floki and Gwenevere and Their Excellency’s from Arn Hold, Loch Salann, and Sentinel’s Keep. Vicount Matheus Bane announced the plans for the sale of pieces of the old thrones, including the shield blanks as well as the plans for the remainder of the pieces. Peers and members of the populace were invited to swear fealty if they had not yet, followed by Her Majesty inviting any new comers to come forward and receive a token. Lyonsmarche then presented largess, including the infamous lentils, and a tithing of the profits from the event. Kastor Cerebus was called forth and awarded an Hastae Leonis for his prowess on the war field. The Order of the Goutte de Sang was made stronger with the inclusion of Rashida bint Yusuf, a most worthy and honorable addition. At the point, The Sable Lion and Lioness suspend their court to allow the Gryphon Thrones of Artemisia a chance to honor some of those that joined them and then largess was exchanged between Kingdoms and Baronies, before resuming their court. Master Sebastian de Caen was invited forward to have a long overdue award bestowed. Wise Styrkarr presented him with a Jambe de Lion, to the joy of all in attendance. Ulrik Grimwolf de Montazure, Master from the Order of the Pelican and an Artisan of Wastekeep was called forth to deliver one of his signature “Ulrik Viking boxes” with the Artemisian Device on the front and side as a gift to Their Majesties of Artemisia from Their Majesties of An Tir. Lady Cler de Cioux summarized the Arts & Science competitions that were held during the weekend, An Tir winning much of them this day. An Tir gained a new Lady in Fiona McLeoud – much to her surprise and gratitude. The Dread Tyrant of An Tir thanked two of her local artisans – Cler de Cioux and Ulrik Grimwolf - with a Bountiful Hand. Styrkarr and Stjarna then thanked the Event Steward, Phelan Tolusmiðr, for hosting such a wonderful event. His Majesty then took this time to call forward two fighters from An Tir, Duke Eirik Daegarsson and Laurant of Weasldsmere. While they were coming forward, stories were regaled of the best plans being worked out by His Majesty on the field, only to be foiled by His Grace Eirik and Laurant charging headlong into battle. The Sable Lion, in his wisdom, honored these two fighters with the “Fury of the Lion: Defender of the Realm.” Lady Ailionora Inghean Tighearnach, was called forward. Her service to her Barony and the Kingdom has long been recognized locally, but recently it had been brought to the attention of the King and Queen. Their Majesties decided that inclusion into the Order of the Goutte de Sang was appropriate. His Excellency Hanefr “Lars” Gunnarson and Her Excellency Kara Bjornsdottir were then called forward with their petition to be released from service to the Crown as Baron and Baroness of Wealdsmere. It was with a heavy heart that Their Majesties accepted the petition, releasing them as the Landed Baron and Baroness of Wealdsmere and bestowing an Augmentation of Arms upon them both in gratitude for their service. Her Ladyship Braith, Seneshal of Wealdsmere then pleaded with Their Majesties to install successors. Mighty Styrkarr and Gracious Stjarna called forth Sir Osrik Rolfsson and Honorable Lady Sigrun Osrikswife – naming them Baron and Baroness of Wealdsmere, tasking them with ruling those lands in Their Name. Before court was suspended for a final time Her Majesty Stjarna, raven-haired beauty, called forth Una Grimwith and told those assembled of her love and support while traveling to far off wars or staying so close to home. Stjarna gifted Una with a Bountiful Hand and a Queen’s Favor. All Royal business now complete, Osrik and Sigrun opened baronial court. Fealty was sworn, awards were bestowed, and all were invited to a celebration with Wealdsmere for the evening. I do believe a fun time was had by all, and plans are already in the works for next year. -In Service Þorkell Palsson, AoA, GdS Quarterly azure and vert, in fess two dice argent spotted sable Protégé to Mistress Genevieve Marie Etiennette de Montagne Steward and Gallant of Wastekeep
