"A Call to Arms!

Yet again, the humble villages of Mountain Edge are facing peril – a mighty army is rumored to be massing to the north! While the shire has faced challenges from mere brigands and cutthroats during past harvests, this year is very different – A renowned commander stands at the head of this company, his proud banner and battle-tested spirit are rallying a force not seen on our borders since the most distant memories of our elders.

None other than Earl Edward Ean Anderson is gathering a powerful army to storm into our shire for the sake of glory and the fruits of our harvest. Will the populace answer the call and rally behind our own Duke Amalric Blackhart as he musters the shire’s resources to face this new, unparalleled threat?

To be victorious, His Excellency will have to fight through the bottleneck known as ‘Dragon’s Den Ravine’ where the villagers can help their defenders by raining deadly ‘stones’ from the hillside above.

Once through this challenge, the great crossroads are all that stands between our village walls and Earl Edward’s army. However, should we manage to push them back, their baggage train will be exposed and vulnerable to looting and firebrands.

Should we fail and the enemy make it through the gates of our humble walls, to the final fighter, we will have to defend every last home from their merciless torches.

Come join the bloodletting, be ye attacker or defender!

Unit tactics are the hallmarks of both these commanders and their effectiveness will be on full display – this will be a year to remember.

In short, the scenarios are:

• Ravine battle
• Crossroads battle
• Walled compound assault to plant stakes in bales of hay
• Battles will be fought best two-out-of-three except during the village burnings which will have limited resurrection – every life will count, surrender them not in vain!

The shire will also be holding competitions to determine the year’s archery and equestrian defenders, all brave An Tirans are welcome to enter.Sunday Tourneys:- Youth Armoured combat tourney- Never won a tourney, tourney Come and enjoy the fun of Acorn War XXI"

"Ah now! That is over stating the truth a little! Eorl Sir Edward is indeed massing an army.... To rescue a poor suffering shire from the depredations of an *EVIL* Duke. In Sir Edward's most altruistic heart, he heard the pleas from the poor beleaguered shire and consented to raise his own personal troops and other gentle souls to help this shire who have been suffering from the mighty hammer and heavy fist of that Duke. Any other worthy individual who would like to go on this mission of mercy should band together and prepare their horses and baggage wagons to aleve the suffering of these worthy people this coming Friday."
