Investiture
(Poem read at the Investiture of Ulfgar and Renee)
The Line of Tir Righ
Look well, oh lords of the Northlands
At the Line of far-famed Tir Righ
Steadfast stand Ulfgar and Renee
Eighth of the Storm Princes
Before them
Kheron, noble-browed sword-servant,
Safeguard of the elk-ocean was he
And Ksenia, cloud-flame of the court
This brooch-bearer of northern kin
Before them
Ulf, wolf of the northern winter
Whom the willows of the breastplate guard
And Amanda, robed in ice and mist Nurturer of a kingdom’s heirs
Before them
Ieuan, the eagle’s meal-giver
Increaser of the serpent’s bench
And Gwyneth, meadow of the gameboard
She governed with summer’s ease.
Before them
Ulf, offerer of noble blood
In his Hall, a realm stood as one
And Bernadette, root of the bow-tree
Who hailed bearers of the sword-shakers
Before them
Kheron, feeder of the wound-falcon
Who gave fair praise to helm-servants
And Ksenia, cup-tree of the hall
She attended her work with care.
Before them
Ulf, unwavering ash of the Spear
Honour gave he to all who served
And Celdae, of the welcoming courts
Who rewarded noble courtesy
Before them
Einar, oak of the northern armies
Honoured Prince, first of his line
And Thora, bright gleam on the throne
The thunder of swords in her name
Before them
Davin, hero-descended king
The dawn of Tir Righ in his eyes
And Groa, who greeted the northland’s birth
Grasses, waving, whisper her name
Before them
Nicholaus, of the night fires
He knew well the weight of a crown
And Allysia, laurel-decked
Her labours remembered by all
Before them
Wilam, war-lord of great fame
Warden of the people’s peace
And Siobhan, ruler of vernal lands
Vine’s blood of the mountains and vales
Before them
Aveloc, ally of the North
Alone he walks unknown paths
And Maliqua, lamp-light of the scribes
And lady of the battle-boards
Before them
Davin, dire battle-raven
Dauntless was he to his foes
And Groa, gold-robed sovereign
Great was the mirth in her courts
Before them
Skepti, whose skills were proven
Skald of the scabbard-tongue was he
And Asa, apple of Asgard
Who inspired great armies
Before them
Stone stood beneath raging storm
And the stars blazed a sovereign wyrd

Personal Memories
Carpooled to the site with Baron Harold Devin. Hall was rather on the small side. Peerage meetings were held in the Fire Hall meeting room across the parking lot. Day food was excellent ("Sugarplum Fairy"?). A&S competition had three entrants (Elinor (from Seagirt), Yrsa Kettilsdottir, and ??). I judged Elinor's excellent "Bobbin Lace for Sixteenth-Century Cuffs" entry. Megan and Meresigha from Shittimwoode brought up boxes and boxes of books to give away free.
Their Majesties Amalric and Caia attended with the Princes Royale. Three new members of the Order of the Silver Pillar: Elena de Maisnilwarin, Thora Golvik, and (agghhh! where's the name?). Sigurd (squire to Sire Geoffrey de Rennes) was knighted. He wore a fine short white-and-blue houppelande.
Their Majesties' Court was delightful. Bernadette did much of the heralding, but was also pulled out front and presented with a Jambe in Their Highness' Court.
I served Head Table at the Banquet with Countess Melissa Kendal and Baroness Kristiana. Head Cook was Kenzie the Amazing Kenzie McBeighn (who got a Goutte earlier in the day). Menu included cold fruit soup (ambrosia!), barley, beef stew, mashed turnips and carrots, a roast pig (!) presented whole to Their Majesties and carved in front of Them, and apple streudel.
Wore my new green Flemish wool gown for the first time.
New Scar of Tir Righ is Draven, who won over Rory.

Cheers, Lady Komatsu no Ayame
Thanks from the Cook for Tir Righ Coronet Investiture Feast: I do not have the names of all those who helped, and there were very many indeed, but among the many I cannot name are some I can, so my apologies to those I miss, but thanks to Syglynda, Sean, Fiona, Vivian, Harliegh, Naomi, and most especially Bernadette.
Some how we missed the two shortest helpers, the two children who ran their legs off running water to the tables, Thora and Myfywny.
Also missed was a public thanks to the Barony of Loins Gate for the loan of the various plates, platters, pots etc that made the feast so much easier to do.
Kenzie
