Wow, what an event! I just finished unpacking and wanted to quickly highlight some of my memories. It was really hot Saturday when most of the activities were going on! The total number of campers and day trippers must have numbered several hundred. There was lots to see and things to do, but above all else, people were trying to stay cool. Having the opportunity to herald the court of Their Highnesses of the Summits, I have to say my favorite memories are when King Amalric picked up and "played" a rubber chicken (making clucking noises as if it were an instrument) that was amongst the prizes kids could choose for participating in the Highland Games. Tjorkill Khan of the Summits soon began playing with the children's toys by example of His Majesty as well as he tried on a pair of false rubber-material teeth that drastically changed his profile. It was commented by His Majesty that the Khan looked very period Mongolian; to say the least, myself and many of those in close vicinity of the royal presence were reveling in joyous laughter. Night life was teeming and people could be found all about, however, despite the heat all were having fun day or night. As expected with Gawin and Marianna's Terra Pomaria, there was much pageantry in court with processionals and the heralding of word fame for all of those who vied for the titles and prizes up for grabs. Finally, again speaking as a herald, it was great to see so many people recognized in court for their achievements and contributions to our society. Bravo- next year is much anticipated, but as with any treasured experience now but a thought of the past, the memories of this year's L & S can never be replaced or out done. --Jean-Jacques Lavigne 21:54, 27 Aug 2006 (EDT)
