Counts and Countesses are gentles who have ruled once over a Kingdom.
They are addressed as "Your Excellency" and referred to in the third person as "Count/ess [personal name]." They may wear a crenellated circlet to indicate their rank.
It is not uncommon in An Tir for many Counts and Countesses to use other language variants of Count or Countess; Earl and Jarl are the two most popular alternates.
As former royalty, they have a Patent of Arms and are considered Royal Peers.
