Hot early Friday. Cool/breezy (then very breezy) in the evening with a bit of rain. Saturday was overcast much of the day and cool/breezy. Some heavy rain Saturday during court. Sunday was sunny and cool.

Come join the good folk of the Barony of Wastekeep as we welcome the coming of Spring! This year also marks Wastekeep’s 30th year anniversary as an official branch of the SCA, and we are prepared to celebrate in grand fashion. There will be tournaments, contests, children’s activities, and a grand feast to entertain and delight all who gather to share in this magical event with us.

We look forward to welcoming friends from near and far for this grand celebration!

Tournaments for all who would put themselves forth as combatants for Wastekeep’s Champions of Armored Combat, Rapier, and Youth Armored Combat will be held this weekend, so come ready to fight for the honor of representing Their Excellencies on the field of battle. More information about the tournaments, as well as the event itself, can be found on the baronial website, www.wastekeep.org.

Friday: June 5th

11:00 am - Site open for Early setup, Erics/Baronal pavilion

4:00 pm - Site Official Opening/Gate open

7:00 pm - List opens and armour inspection for Pandi Bat Tournament

8:00 pm - Pandi Bat Tournament (Heavy weird weapon tournament)

Saturday: June 6th

9:00 am - List signup for Heavy Champions tournament

10:00 am - Opening Court

10:30 am - Armour Inspection for Heavy Champions tournament, Archery range open for Archery Champion Tournament and Open shooting

11:00 am - Heavy Champions Tournament.

• YAC Champions Tournament to follow Heavy Tournament
• Contests and Games throughout the day

5:00 pm - Setup for Feast, Dancing, Archery Range closed

5:30 pm - Drummers

6:00 pm - Feast

8:00 pm - Court

9:00 am - Sergeantry Meeting, List opens for Rapier Champions Tournament

Event Highlights

Friday night was a Pandi Bat Tournament. There was much amusement, and possibly the development of new fighting techniques. Quar-a received the distinction of being the victor, and was gifted with Black Bjorn by His Excellency Styrkarr.

Other contests were held throughout the event. Rowland Greene produced the Best Armor Made Completely of Duct Tape, in the form of a nasal helm. Ysabella Greene produced the Best Period Garb Made Completely of Duct tape, in the form of an apron dress. Phelan Tolusmidr was declaired to have the Best Male Legs by the assembled ladies at Bardic. Eilionoira nicKergue de Rochford produced the Best Breakfast Pastry in the form of a peach cobbler. His Excellency Shannon O'Duncan shared much of Blue, deemed the Most Passionate Potable.
