Court Report
The War
Declaration of War conveyed by Phillip de Mantel of Wastekeep to Baron Sir Caieth of Umber prior to the War.
For too long the cruel despot known as Caieth, the Bandit Baron of Wealdsmere, has sent his raiders south to the lands of Lyonsmarche. These hungry lentil bandits have taken from the simple folk of Lyonsmarche, that which they hold more dear than anything else . . . their ability to pay to Wastekeep the lentil tribute which we so rightly deserve. And so, our just and noble Baron, Sir Styrkarr Jarlsskald, has marshaled the forces of Wastekeep, and we have marched to war, to defend the peace and lentil loving people of Lyonsmarche. And return with the lentil tribute that is our birthright as it was our fathers' before us and their fathers' before them.
Heavy Scenarios
We started out with an open field warmup battle.
Then we went to a series of reinforcement battles - 75% of the defending force held a fortress against the attackers (5 lives inside, 4 without). After three minutes, the reinforcements are released behind the attackers. All defenders resurrected behind the fortress, attackers outside. If the attackers were able to push the defenders out of the back of the fortress, those defenders were permanently dead for the scenario. We eventually had to cut the reinforcement time to 2 minutes. Lots of fun!
Next came the Lentil Raid. The main fortress and three smaller structures on the field each held lentil "bags". Defenders tried to keep them in the structures, attackers tried to take them to a barge. The bags were light enough to carry in a weapon hand holding a weapon, so no need for full gauntlets to carry. Anyone carrying the bag had to walk due to their "weight". If the carrier was killed, they dropped the bag. The bag could be picked up and returned to the structure it came from, or moved towards the barge. Good deal of tactics choosing what to defend, what to attack first, and how to move the bags across the field. This one wore out most of the fighters, due to constant resurrections and running.
The few fighters left continued to fight at the fortress until the bitter end.
Rapier Tourney Circuit
What a great turn out!! The list was quite impressive, if you missed this event, then you missed out. There were 5 fighters from the circuit there, Christopher Stanley, Monsignor Talon, Don Andrew Williams, Monsignor Sebastien, and Ronan MacCormac.
There were 5 there from the Order of the White Scarf: Monsignor Talon, Don Andrew Williams, Don Jack Tyler, Don Sebastien, and Don Herr Lyall Foxx of the Hills. Also fighting was His Majesty, Skeggi and His Excellenciy Sir Styrkarr Jarlskard.
There were 21 other fighters on the list including Dalbach, Alexander de Mantel, Roland Greene, Matheus from Artemisia, Michael of Lancaster, Dog, Conniech Dhonhuil, Sarafina, Simon Alveronn, Janusch, His Excellency Shannon Duncan, Jessica Cummings, Hugo, Matias von Haug, Killian, Phillip, Ronan MacCormac, Christopher Stanley, and Alvar.
Before the tournament started a wonderful presentation was made as Don Andrew took a new cadet, Señor Alvar Guerrero.
The floodgates opened about 10 minutes before the tournament, and before we knew it we were doing a 26 man round robin, fighting every fighter there. Talon won the tournament with 4 losses.
After 3 scenarios (2 with guns, 1 without), Wastekeep was victorious over us for the war point. We finished the day with some more scenarios for fun (rapiers against guns, and a snowball tournament).

Sunday Rapier Champion Tourney
The next morning was the Lyonsmarche Championship tournament. Luckily for the out of towners, they were allowed to fight in the tournament because the Champion was to be chosen by acclaim. There would also be a prize for the winner of the tournament.
The tournament was an interesting one. It worked like this: There were 3 rectangles made by rope, sized large (1), medium (2), and small (3). You had to stay inside the rope or you lost your bout. If you won, you would move up a square, if you lost you would move down. The only way you scored points is by winning a bout in the 3rd square. It was times for 30 minutes. Note: This is known as a three-ring Holmgang. You lose by taking first blood or stepping outside the ring. Double hits move both competitors down.
Newly cadetted Alvar Guerro was chosen for the acclaim prize, and will be holding the office of Rapier Champion of Lyonsmarche for the next year.
The victor for the prize with an outstanding number of wins (29) was Don Andrew Williams. In second place with the Baron of Wastekeep, His Excellency Sir Styrkarr Jarlskard coming in second. Christopher Stanley came in 3rd.

Personal Memories
One of our first far-away events, we roadtripped to Honor War with some friends. The Riddle Contest (The Copper Dragon) was by far my favorite part of the whole event- our team (Simon, Ronan, and myself as well as a companion here or there!) won the contest- so this year I owe Simon a batch of lentil cookies!
I also remember the little one getting lost and the search to find him, and watching my sister learn how to kumihimo on a proper tool.
Can't wait for this year! Aine MacConmara
