Subject: [wyewood] Wyewood Census...

Thank you Mir for providing a Wyewood Census! A large counting of those gentles all who are part of our group!

Back in the dark mists of time, back in the late AS 20's when Eastern Wyewood was in Port de l'eau and Western Wyewood was in Madrone proper A lady named Sybilla Penrose of the Netherhase was seneschal of Port de l'eau, and it was she, along with to find gentles Henry and Edith, the dance master of said Canton, and his lady who started what is called the "South End Dance Practice"

It was as we say, mostly attended by people from up north, and I who lived in Ballard at the time was one of the "Up North" people.

in 1994 we held a social for intrested people from the Kent Faire, and an assortment of classes as well as dance. Then at the end of the year I bought a house in Des Moines, at that time in Madrone, and decided to start a group.

I met with a certain amount of resistance. One peer told me the south end was too blue collar to have an SCA group, another pointed out that several times people tried to organize in the South end and failed, and a 3rd who was a royal peer informed me in no uncertain terms that I was trying to destroy the SCA through factionalism and going about organizing the group in the wrongest possible way. - aka. I was not following the path that lead to the failure of several other south end groups -.

I shrugged my shoulders and continued. Soon Rauthuflr and Tamsin of the new name joined my efforts, as well as a rotation of people, some who stayed and many more who did not.

It was several years later when I went to an event saw the Wyewood flag, entered the camp and recognised "no one" indeed they challenged me asking who I was and what was I doing in the Wyewood camp?

so indeed our tree has solid roots, a mighty trunk, and with Mir's list it's obvious that are branches are now filled with a bunch of fruit. from 1to 90 in 10 years.

Gordon.
