When the King and Queen approached me (Anarra Karlsdottir) and Yseult of Broceliande (Seneschal of Adiantum) at 12th night that year, with their proposal to combine Crown and Egils Tourney, they were concerned there wasn't enough time between the end of the SCA's 20th anniversary (TYC in Ansteorra) and Crown weekend, and that Crown would be underattended if it wasn't moved. They promised that the Kingdom would not try to move Crown to Memorial Day weekend at any point in the future. That's why Crown and Egil's never again happened on the same weekend.

My most searing memory was of the lack of toilets. The group who'd rented the site the weekend before had put one of the flush toilets out of commission. FAR more people had showed up to the event than we anticipated--it became the largest event An Tir had ever held. I spent a good chunk of Saturday being shuttled to the nearest payphone desperately trying to get hold of the porta-potty people to beg for a pump-out and more potties. A great cheer went up all over the field when the additional potties arrived!
