Royal patron is a royal peer who acts as an advisor to a shire, college, or other branch that does not have direct access to the Landed Nobility or Crown.

The relationship between a branch and the Royal Patron is at the pleasure of the branch, the Royal Patron, and with the consent of the Crown. Royal Patrons are in direct fealty to the Crown.

A Royal Patron may:

  • Hold court as Patron at events in their sponsored group
  • Raise war bands
  • Receive branch officier reports
  • Report to the Crown and Heirs on the state of their group.
  • Act as an advocate for their group
  • Represent the branch at Noble Estate Meetings
  • Distribute awards as designated by the Crown.

This description is based on An Tir Kingdom Law as of Dec 2005.
