Persona

Roana Aldinoch was born in the winter of 1169 in Totnes, England, the second youngest of seven. Raised by her father, a very wealthy minter, Roana received an education in philosophy, reading, and exchequery, things otherwise not approved for women. She married young, bore her first husband four children, and then did not weep at her husband's funeral six years after their wedding day. His income and sheep farm were left to her eldest son, in her keeping until the boy came of age. By the time he was able to do so, she had amassed enough wealth on her own to buy her own sheep farm, where she now lives in peaceful reverie, taking in the occasional lodger and selling her ale with great success.

Modern Info

Roana Isenholt works as a data analyst in healthcare. She's recently relocated to Portland, OR, to spend more time with her adult sons while her daughter attends college in Ames, IA. She enjoys organizing events in order to create places for others to live the dream. She spends her copious amounts of downtime (*coughs*) bookbinding, sewing, brewing, doing leather crafting, and generally avoiding sleep by finding that one more thing that she just *has* to learn about/do/see.

Apprentice

At Pennsic 39, Meisterin Katarina Helene von Schoenborn kindly offered to take me under her wing to teach me the art of Bookbinding, a great passion of mine. She has been a wonderful guide through the many trials and tribulations of this art and the many others that tempt me, and I am eternally grateful for the time, energy, and experience that she's willingly shared with me.

Protege

At Festival of Maidens on January 30, AS 50, Baron Wilhelm Michalik formally took Lady Eva Wurster and me as his first proteges. I had asked him to formalize a long-standing relationship that we had already had where he was my mentor and guide as seneschal first for Wurmwald, and then for all of the Midlands. His advice has always been on-point, useful, and given with not a small amount of snark. (That's my favorite language.) We received a yellow belt and a ring as a sign of his patronage in a ceremony seen by many of my friends and family.
