Jacob the Upended

Jacob the Upended hails from the Shire of Bitter End in the Principality of Avacal. He began actively participating in the Current Middle Ages in the year A.S. XXXV, being 2000 Gregorian. He currently still resides in the Shire of Bitter End.

In the past Jacob has served as Bitter End's herald in office and in presence. Some would claim he fits the role naturally, having a talent for bellowing and a difficulty keeping his mouth shut.

Jacob has been seen in the company of Admiral Lord Elrik Buchanan of Montengarde and HL Captain Sybell Nathayra Deya of Bitter End frequently, and just prior to Bitter End Harvest Feast in the year A.S. XLI he signed aboard HL Sybell's vessel the Stiletto as the Quartermaster.

Jacob is known to favour rum of any kind. In truth, he is known to favour any strong beverage and has little prejudice as to its contents or origin. Living in Avacal as a pirate has proven difficult, what with little access to the open sea and all, but Jacob contents himself with attending a few events every year to remind him of the high society he makes his living from, er, emulates with deep respect.

Jacob was awarded an Award of Arms by King Gunnarr and Queen Gabriell of An Tir on 9 November A.S. XXXVIII, being 2003 Gregorian, for conspicuous merit assisting Alen Bendbow with voice heraldry at the September, A.S. XXXVIII Crown Tournament event held by the Barony of Borealis. Despite his best efforts Jacob is still seen by some as an upstanding member of the Nobility, occasional indulgences aside.

Jacob the Upended retired from active SCA participation following the 25th anniversary of Bitter End's Silver Arrow event. He has no plans to return to the Society in the future.
