Personal Memories

Well, we skipped the 40th year celebration and May Crown, as with limited funds we had to make a choice of just one event this past month. We chose Egils, and it was a great deal of fun.

Some things that stood out:

Watching someone call out "Ride'm Cowboy!" while driving through the ruts in the muddy road.

Listening to the Populace chant the words when someone at court recieved a Baronial Brownie. In unison. With great vigor. With so many awarded that day, it was truly a "Brownie Sundae, er, Sunday"

Having people wave from across a field.

Having people stop by the day shade and visit, while the heavens opened. Meeting newcomers, and hearing their joy to be there.

Seeing our Honorary Adopted Daughters, and spending time just chatting.

Visiting with Dame Ferga, the Autocrat (and Seneschale of Adiantum), seeing her Award scroll (made out of Rich Chocolate layered delight, and awarded in the form of a Baronial Brownie.

Gaining 2 pounds just smelling the rich chocolate of the above award! [I was good, I did not even try to eat any; I still gained two pounds from the delightful odor!]

Having a young Lady come by on Sunday and play me three songs on her harp! She was one of the visitors from the previous day, and she wanted to give me a gift for our hospitality. It was one of the nicest things anyone has done for me at an SCA event!

Seeing old friends, and making new ones.

Spending 'way too much money on merchants row, and coming home loaded with wonderful things! [Especially from Pastiche; Mistress Asha and Mistress Foggy smile when they see me coming!]

Buying presents for dear friends, and giggling in anticipation! [Oh, Dame Rowan . . .]

Being able to sit and rest while the event moved in front of me. Watching newcomers and old-timers mingle and share good feelings.

Going off-site to dinner, and freaking the Mundanes! [We had people at a restaurant ask to take our picture! We giggles and said sure!]

Seeing people having a good time, not in spite of the weather, but because of it!

It was a Great event.
