Daffodil Tournament A.S. XLVIII/2013

The 36th annual Daffodil Tournament was again at held the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds on March 9th, ASXLVIII. Her Ladyship Morgaine Essex was the event steward with His Excellency Baron Lachlan mac an Toisch serving as Head Chef.

Their Excellencies Eideard and Mogg, the Baron & Baroness of Seagirt hosted grand tournaments to choose Seagirt’s Defender (armoured combat), Captain of the Grenadiers (rapier), an Archery Tournament, and an Arts and Sciences competition.

Their Highnesses of the Storm Thrones, Christian and Heléne were in attendance. His Highness sponsored a plate, cup & bowl auction for the travel fund including a place at head table.

We also had special guests attending, The Prince and Princess of the Summits, Their Highnesses Luciano and Elizabeth.

Feast Menu

1st Remove

Cheese and Flour Cake

  * flour, vegetable oil, yeast, milk, feta cheese, honey, sugar, pepper

The Soup Called Menjoire

  * chicken, beef stock, bread, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, pepper, grains of paradise, vinegar, sugar, aniseed, nutmeg, galingale, white wine

Madira

2nd Remove

Isfanakh Mutajjan

Tuffahiya

Jannâniyya

  * lettuce, fennel, Fava beans, spinach, chard, carrots, vegetable oil, onions, garlic, pepper, coriander, caraway seeds, bread crumbs, eggs, coriander, mint, cheese

Cooked Dish of Lentils

  * lentils, vegetable oil, pepper, coriander, onions, salt, saffron, vinegar, eggs,  butter

3rd Remove

Hulwa

  * honey, egg white, walnuts, sesame seeds

Makshufa

  * sugar, almonds, honey, sesame oil, saffron, rose-water

Defender of Seagirt

The Defender Tourney was held in three phases and precided over by His Excellency Kheron Azov. The victor was Squire Seth Starr, Sargeant to Her Excellency of Seagirt.

Captain of Her Excellency The Baroness Of Seagirt's Own Grenadiers

Her Excellency of Seagirt's Tourney was presided over by His Lordship Vincent the Chased with Monsignor Mathieu Chaudeau serving as Marshal-In-Charge.

The tourney began with a full round robin of all participants with the His Highness of the Summits Luciano emerging as the victor. As His Highness has obligations in other land, he accepted the prize of a grand lantern but passed the title of Captain on to the second place finisher, Her Ladyship Violante von Oesterreich.

Archery Tournament

The victor of the archery tournament was Lady Athelina Grey.

Art & Sciences

His Excellency Eideard accepted Lady Isabel Velaquez de la Vega as His newest Scholar after the final showing of her amazing projects.

The annual contest for a Daffodil in any Medium was conducted.

Personal Memories

It was a wonderful event with a delcious feast in the evening. I was very happy to get to cross blades with His Highness of the Summits, Doge Luciano during pickup fights after the tourney. It was wonderful to see Joye de Beumund receive her award of arms.
