Typically, a Consort is the non-Sovereign partner in a reigning couple. For example, if Lord Joe fights for Lady Mary in Crown Tournament and wins, he is the Sovereign and she is the Consort. The term is not gender-specific; if Lady Mary fought for Lord Joe in Crown Tournament and wins, she would be the Sovereign and he would be the Consort.
