Personal Memories

Greetings all,

I wanted to take a few lines (few being relative to the work of all those who made it happen) of your email to thank many wonderful people who made this years Banner War such a Great Success.

When I first took on this event I said to the multitude of Baronial Officers in Aquaterra, as well as all members of the local populace, "If you have ever wanted to try an idea for a contest, this would be the time. Come see me and we'll talk about your contest and make it work for this event. I want to be sure that while the heavy fighters go off to war those still in camp from child to gentle artist are not bored." And this group stepped right up, HL Gabrielle deMerricourt and her "Thrown Siege Cooking Weapons" was apparently a great game for all who played. And as was mentioned by Aine, Utgar took and Rapier went left of it's norm creating a good time for those folks too.

There was the Boasting contest originated by Katherine Brennan of Redstone and skillfully laid out as a competition by Lady Soelig the baronial officer of bardic, what fun that was to hear, and then she offered us dance and organized the Barons Riddle contest. AWESOME! Darts by torchlight I understand it was our Good Baron Andreu who was kind enough to lend his tall torches for the players to see by and Halldórr (Sp?) organized a great time there too.

A&S by the lovely lady Crinoc, WOW! she was great laying out the rules with the war theme, and apparently many were inspired to participate. Thanks a bunch!

The Lovely Baroness Fiamma gave us not just any siege cooking contest but one with specific things to cook and the ingredients to do so, and what good food did result. Thank you your Excellency for your time, attention and caring for your contestants, I know they learned much by the feed back received.

The Inn, All I can say is Thank you Gregore, Dallas and Kate. Great Food, Plenty of it lovely decor, and plenty of mutable space for dance and games.

To our tireless Waterbearers Shai (Sp?) and her new deputy Aura, thank you for not letting those feisty fighters turn down too many offers of drink, without you the Chirugeons would have had too much work to do, and Buzzy and her team enjoy boredom.

The constables who served had little to report, I thank them for coming and helping and the revelers for making their job so easy this time around.

Those pretty site tokens were the creative work of many hands but originated with Aine Sarke and Catherine de la Rosa, to them and the many hands who helped finish them, THANK YOU what a nice token of the event.

Fi and Rosamund, for keeping the site agreement straight and getting the gate hours squared away, THANK YOU, as well as for all the little things I barely saw but know had to have happened for this to go off so well.

And to my lovely Gate crew for greeting you all with smiles, and directions Marie, Sarah, Master Robyrt and crew THANK YOU very much.

Great battles for adults and kids. Thank you Daði for the Boffer adventures! and Baron Andreu for woods and field battles til they tired of fighting, and for being my stealthy co-autocrat with an ear to listen and calm to help me through the rough spots, I am deeply grateful.

It's a long list I know, but these things never happen by one or two hands alone. The appearance of Their Royal Highnesses Tir Righ was a welcome surprise, I was very glad to see you and to hear of great deeds by the fighters of the Red Plague who you had brought with you.

And unto all the attendees, a HUGE THANK YOU, for making this event a fabulous success and for making my closing job so easy. All the fires where out, all the sites where CLEAN and ALL THE TRASH went out. and when I stopped to ask the park keeper if it looked like we had donated a fair amount for the trash in the "by donation" dumpster, he responded "OH YES, VERY WELL!" thank you all for your honour, your courtesy and your smiling faces. It was a pleasure to go out last and see how well An Tir treated this land and themselves.

Ever in Service to the Good People of An Tir,
HL Jade of House Redstone
Autocrat of this years Banner War
