Name: Lady Avelyn de Mowbray, OSD
Home Branch: Avelyn lives in the far northern area of the Barony of Aquaterra and has played with the Barony for three years. She and her family have recently started playing more in the nearby Shire of Midhaven.

Avelyn was born in the 14th Century to an Irish mother and Norman father.
Interests
Avelyn has many interests including the following:
- Costuming
Lady Avelyn has learned to sew since joining the SCA three years ago. She has had many wonderful teachers in this process and has been learning to recreate period garb for her and her family.
- Leatherworking
- Yurt making
Avelyn and her friend, Elewys of Finchingfield, have been discovering the many wonders and challenges of building a Mongolian/Turkish Yurt/Gher. While the project is not yet complete, they hope to have it done in time for their family's to enjoy for September Crown A.S. XLVI (2011). Avelyn's Yurt will be 18 feet in diameter, while Elewy's will be 12 feet.

Family
Avelyn is married to Lord Michael FitzGeoffrey, and has three children: Emily d’Aquaterra, Jaren FitzMichael, and Edwin FitzMichael.
Awards
Lady Avelyn received her Award of Arms on Saturday, November 20th, A.S. XLV (2010) from Queen Miranda at the Midhaven Harvest Feast. Her name and arms were registered with the SCA College of Arms in December A.S. XLIV (2009).
Lady Avelyn was also awarded membership in the Barony of Aquaterra's Order of the Silver Dolphin in the year A.S. XLV (2010).
Avelyn entered the Tourney Garb Contest at July Coronation A.S. XLVI (2011) and tied for first place in the Novice Catagory with a late 12th/early 13th century ensemble that she made for her husband, Lord Michael.
Positions held in the SCA
Lady Avelyn de Mowbray, is the editor of From the Skin Out, the newsletter of the An Tir Costumer’s Guild.
Lady Avelyn is also the A&S Minister for the Shire of Midhaven.
