Youth Armored Combat (often abbreviated as "YAC", and pronounced "wye-aye-cee" or "yak") is the youth's version of the adult's Heavy Combat. It is open for youths from age six to age seventeen, with the participants being split into the age ranges of 6-8, 9-12, and 13-17.

Youth Armored Combat had previously been known as "Boffer", so called after the more padded/softer style of weapons used. It has developed from a less organized beginning into a more formalized rule set with it's own officers, tourneys, and traditions. One of the core ideas behind the current from of YAC is to prepare the participants with the needed skills in fighting and chivalry to transition into adult heavy combat.

Participants wear armor and use weapons similar to those of heavy combat, but adjusted for YAC. For example, YAC weapons have a rattan core, but unlike heavy combat weapons, their hafts must be covered in closed cell foam, and two-handed thrusting weapons are not allowed.
