Talk:Baron

From An Tir Culture Wiki

"In An Tir, it is considered the second-highest honour the Crown may grant."

This line is suspect. The Lion of An Tir and Augmentation of Arms, to name two, are considered higher honors, not to mention that all Grants and Peerages outrank a Court Barony. I would remove this line entirely or re-word it. Comments? - Quentin Martel

I'd remove it completely or reword it to be less specific ("...one of the highest honours..."). Listing its specific position will make the article go stale when the Crown shifts things around again. --Elizabeth Braidwood 13:18, 28 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Baron vs Baronet

Is "baronetcy" the correct term for the state of baron-ness? My (admittedly brief) research indicates that a Baronet is a creature distinct from a Baron: http://www.debretts.co.uk/etiquette/correct_forms_of_address.html#B

I believe the correct term is "barony". As in: "The Crown gave Lord Joe a Court Barony."
