AQUATERRA SERGEANTRY TRIALS
August 23-25th, A.S. XXXVII (2002)
Stanwood/Camano Fairgrounds, Stanwood WA
Come enjoy a leisurely summer event supporting Aquaterra’s Candidates as they undertake the day-long, infamously gruelling Aquaterran Sergeantry Trials! Site will open 3pm Friday, and close 3pm Sunday. The general populace is encouraged to attend, especially Saturday so they can cheer the Candidates on as they demonstrate the knowledge they have learned over the last seven months of baronial tutelage. Sunday will be a day of genteel activities, the perfect quiet event to attend (for everyone but the Candidates) right before the frenetic activity of September Crown.
A modest but tasty feast of soldierly fare will be served Saturday evening for the enjoyment of the Candidates, the Sergeantry, and the populace, prepared by our own Valdis (recipes rumored to be filched from HL Fiamma’s larder). Thanks to the efforts of the Candidates, there will be entertainment and dancing at this feast, and if the weather is fine, it will be served al fresco. Come and enjoy a unique dining experience! Attendance at the feast is limited to 70, with candidates and testers having priority, so please get your reservations in to the Autocrat as soon as possible! 30 spaces are reserved so far--get your loved ones a ticket now!
Site Fee: $7 for adults, $4 for children 7-17, 6 and under free. Feast Fee: $4 for age 7 and up, 6 and under free. Please make checks payable to: Barony of Aquaterra, SCA Inc. Menu includes sauerbraten (marinated beef), honey-glazed apples and carrots, and poached pears in blackberry sauce; if you have food allergy concerns, please contact the Autocrat. This is a dry site, as per fairground regulations.
Due to an ongoing modified burn ban, there will be no "open flames" at this site--i.e. no tiki torches, unshielded candles, et cetera. If the flame dances above the rim, forget it. As for braziers, charcoal briquets might be acceptable if used solely for food-cooking purposes, but burning wood or presto logs, anything that could toss out a spark, would not be okay. Please remember to have fire-suppression materials on hand, such as a fire extinguisher or bucket of water, and not tucked under a table well out of sight, and therefore out of quick and easy reach! Thank you!
