Eureka Syndrome

The experience of being overwhelmed with a sudden interest in dozens of different aspects of SCA life and not knowing which to try first, or even where to begin.

Arguably, this term could also apply to the moment that someone realizes that they have fallen in love with the SCA and wants to take up hobbies that fall within its scope. Characterized by the archetypal question "Why didn't anybody tell me I could be having this much fun XX years ago?"

There are hundreds of fun and fascinating things to do in the SCA. It's very easy to succumb to the drive to try to do them all at once. Taking classes and participating in learning activities are all great ways to get introduced to a lot of stuff without exhausting yourself.

A good way to experience the variety that the SCA has to offer is to ask to join someone in an activity for a while. Most SCAdians are willing to show someone what they are working on, and teach them the basics of it. If you can help someone with their own work for a while, you can get a taste of it without having to pay the money to invest in taking that activity up by yourself.
