Athenaeum is an Arts & Sciences showcase event sponsored by the Barony of Madrone (King County, Washington). It is a non-competitive Body of Work event, and it is designed to be an opportunity to display the breadth of artistic or artisan abilities and receive valuable feedback and commentary from the Laurels of An Tir and other artisans in a relaxed, collaborative, and engaging environment.

Their Excellencies of Madrone in partnership with the Laurels of An Tir invite artisans of all skill levels to journey to Athenaeum, sponsored by the Barony of Madrone, to showcase their artistic skills to all the Realm! The populace was welcomed to attend as well and be inspired and awed by the largest collection of artisans in An Tir!

History

The first Athenaeum was held in-person in AS LIII (July 2018) at North Seattle College and was a resounding success. The event repeated in AS LIV (2019), held in the multi-purpose room at Bellevue High School. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Athenaeum became a virtual event in 2020 via the Road to Athenaeum website. The website was renamed in Spring of 2021 and is now called Athenaeum. The fourth Athenaeum took place virtually on June 26-27, 2021. In 2022, Athenaeum returned in person at a new location, Lake Washington High School, where it has been held in the years since. The event was started in An Tir by Charles de Bourbon, OL, who was inspired by a similar event held in the Kingdom of Ansteorra.
