A Watched Pot
"A Watched Pot" was the news magazine of the An Tir cooking guild called The Guild of the Black Kettle.
Eleven issues of "A Watched Pot" were published between 1982 and 1988. They were 8 1/2 x 11 photocopied, printed on both sides, with clip art and borders, stapled on the left edge. Page count varied from 20 to 40 pages.
The issues were mailed to members of the Black Kettle guild, and were also available by mailing a request and a check to the Editor as listed inside the front cover. The publication was also distributed by purchase in person at An Tir Kingdom events and at events were Black Kettle members were present. ________________________
Posted on Facebook group "An Tir Culinary" on March 2, 2017: In 1988 Alfarhaugr Publishing Society published The Best of A Watched Pot (101 pages), recipes drawn from the first eleven issues of A Watched Pot (Vol. I, No. 1-5, Autumn 1982 to Autumn 1983; Vol. II, No. 1-4, Winter-Autumn 1984; Vol. III, No. 1-2, Winter-Spring 1985). IN 1991 Alfaarhaugr published The Best of A Watched Pot, Volume 2 (97 pages), which drew from A Watched Pot Vol. III, No. 3-4, Summer-Fall 1985; Vol. IV, 1986; and Vol. V, 1987. I was the editor of both volumes (Yseult of Broceliande).
About five years ago I looked at the material with an eye to republishing, but I didn't think that there was anything there that wasn't now easily available in other formats. That was before the internet was so full of information and before there were so many good books with both original and modernized recipes. But the Black Kettle Guild and A Watched Pot were an important part of An Tir's early culinary history!
