Biography:
Saitō no Mitsukage is the first son to a merchant family from Kyoto. His social climbing father sent him and his brother to train to fight in the many wars in the time period. Saitō no Mitsukage, being a more scholarly sort, studied the martial ways, and pursued a teaching licence, then being sent on a warrior's journey (武者修行 in Japanese) went to his father with the idea of spreading the family's fame by travelling and developing business contacts in the West. These travels lead to his landing on the shores of the Barony of Seagirt, where he took up residence.
