Persona:

An Ard Tighearna Feradach Mac Tralin Mec Domongairt is a Scottish highlander of the Donald clan from the Isle of Skye. He was born in 1280 and fought as a Gallóglaigh during the Wars of Scottish Independence. After losing the war he traveled to Ireland where he married and had four children (who later moved back to the Isle of Skye to live in the clan lands). He hated the English and wished revenge on them. When the hundred years war broke out he saw this as his chance to get revenge. He traveled to France to fight in the war and did not return.

His descendant, born in 1580 and 14th in line, is named after his ancestor and resides in the same plot of Scottish land that was owned by the first Feradach. The young Feradach continues to hold to the old ways. His first taste of combat was as a Redshank in the Nine Years War at 16. After the war was lost he became disillusioned with his country and traveled Europe as a mercenary. He has traveled extensively, including a stay in Germany where he learned advanced sword techniques from the Lichtenauer School. When the War of Three Kingdoms broke out in the Isles he felt that this was the chance to break the hold of the English that had tormented his family for generations. He returned to Scotland with the family he had formed in Europe and used his knowledge and skills to give the highland soldiers a chance to weaken the hold of England. This was his last war.

Actual:

An Ard Tighearna Feradach Mac Tralin Mec Domongairt joined the SCA in October of 2011 after watching a heavy fighting tournament at the Ancestral Remembrance Celebration/Feast of St. Eggburt in Myrtle Holt. Feradach had previously been a student of the martial arts (Karate, Kobudo, Judo, Tai-Chi, Jujistu) and was especially fond of the sword arts (Iaido, Kendo). Upon learning that there was a place to practice actual weapon combat he immediately registered him, his lady the Honorable Lady Taran Destingr, and his two children Vibius Cornelius Felix and Crundmael Mac Feradaig as members of the SCA. He found a book on armoring online and within the month had constructed an entire suit of armor.

Feradach's two main goals in the Society have always been to grow in the art of the sword and to be supportive and encouraging of new members. Feradach has always had a strong sense of duty to community which caused him to serve in the Oregon Army National Guard from 2002 to 2008 and to volunteer as deputy shire marshal for Glyn Dwfn in the summer of 2012. Shortly after volunteering as a deputy, circumstances forced Feradach to step up as shire marshal and during his tenure he oversaw the beginning of Glyn Dwfn's explosive growth in the fighter community.

While Taran also had an interest in the sword arts she did not have any particular interest in either heavy combat or rapier combat. In order to help her, Feradach investigated and discovered the nascent Cut and Thrust community of the Summits. Taran contacted Magnifico Luciano Foscari and set up a workshop to begin learning this new art. Feradach continued to rely on her encouragement as they worked to grow this new style.

In December of 2012 he introduced his lord the Honorable Lord Piaras mac Toirdghealbhaigh to the Society and by August HL Feradach Mac Tralin, HL Taran Destingr, HL Piaras mac Toirdhealbhaigh, Lord Iurii Victorev Belegorski, HL Milisandia filia Willelmi Filii Roberti, and Master Armand de Castille had formed the House of the Honey Badger.

Since then, Feradach has striven to grow his own fighting skill and the general fighting community. Feradach has, with the assistance and support of his household, hosted and participated in numerous Cut and Thrust workshops throughout the principality of the Summits. Through their hardwork the Cut and Thrust community of the Summits grew from one of the smallest in the known world to one of the largest. In December of 2014 he applied to become the Kingdom Cut and Thrust martial, at the encouragement of the White Scarves of the Summits. Upon achieving this position in March of 2016 Feradach began working on growing the Cut and Thrust community of An Tir in an attempt to replicate the success found in the Summits.

In July of 2016, Magnifico Luciano Foscari took Feradach as his provost in the art of rapier.

Feradach's interests include all forms of combat and martial arts, games, philosophy, and history. Feradach is currently working on learning a number of period sword styles such as I-33, the Lichtenauer school, and Capo Ferro.
