I've seen this passed around on several mailing lists recently. I'm not sure what the origin of this is, but it's quite amusing:

I had this half-baked idea at the beginning of the war and I let it ferment. I now believe it is fully baked and ready for public consumption...

For years a fair number of our senior members of the society have been given and earned various unofficial titles regarding their age. I wish to standardize the terminology and therefore, I developed the Old Fart Index based on a simple axiom.

The Old Fart Index (OFI) Rule states:

OFI is the person's chronological age in years (commencing at birth), aggregated with their years in the SCA. Mathematically this is represented as:

OFI = MYr + SYr. (Where 'MYr' is Mundane Years and 'SYr' is Society Years.) (Please note that the OFI is gender neutral...)

When applied to the following table, the index will precisely indicate the appropriate title to be applied to someone completely irrespective of OP awards.

OFI	Title
Under 40	Fodder
41-49	Smart Ass
50-59	Lifer
60-69	Old Fart
70-79	Neanderthal
80-89	Dinosaur
90-99	Fossil
100-109	Primordial Ooze
110+	Gas (hot air)

Example:
Count Sir Denis of the Titans' OFI is 91 (54 + 35). He is officially a 'Fossil'
Lord Vallawulf Rurikson's OFI is 57 (36 + 21). He is a 'Lifer'
