Squires' Tournament Results

Greetings all,

Here are the results of the Squires' Tourney at May Crown. Please feel free to forward as needed.

Prizes were donated by Baroness Saewynn, Realm of Regalia and Gypsy Traders.

Chivalry Prize: Saif al Saran, Squire to Sir Owain ap Einar.

Most Wins - 41: Aiden ap Darren y Cigfrain, Squire to Master Grendal

Aiden also had most fights with 48. Since a Squire can only win one of the prizes, Most Fights was awarded to the fighter with the next highest total.

Most fights - 38: Garwulf the Younger, Squire to Sir Osric Wolfsbaitr.

Congratulations to all who participated and my thanks to all who help make the tournament possible.

The results are listed below. The formatting may not work with all email types, so the first number after the fighter's name is Wins; the second, losses; and the third, total fights.

Personal Memories

Travelled to the event with Agnes Creswyke and Godytha joined us in Yurt Girldom.

Arrived on site in good time to set up the yurt and throw in our stuff before we headed into town to find dinner. Thankfully Godytha was able to find us -- located as we were in a remote corner near the Lists fields.

Dusty. Dry. Foxtail seeds poking into my ankles.

Saturday was windy windy windy. Alas, we had set up the yurt with the door facing directly into the wind so spent the day dashing back to the camp to make sure that the roof hadn't lifted off yet again.

Odd site layout. L-shaped with the Lists fields off at the far end of one arm rather than in the middle somewhere. Merchants along two sides of the Lists area (that was good), but two layers deep and I don't think the ones on the outside layer got nearly the traffic that the inside ones got. Officer pavilions on the Lists field was a good idea (I especially liked the Seneschale's "office hours"), but the Guild Alley was almost always empty. There was no reason for people to walk down the backside of that side of the lists field, so they didn't.

Their New Highnesses Tiernan and Miranda have two small boys. All four processed into court for the investiture ceremony, with the boys in matching surcoats. His Imminent Highness carrying one and Her Imminent Highness holding the hand of the other. The walking boy was waving delightedly to the crowd all the way up the aisle calling "Hi!" to everyone who waved back. A total charmer.

Got to watch the Equestrian folks very briefly on Sunday -- I came discovered them when I was heading out to the parking lot to bring back the car for packing. It looked like fun and they could've probably used more spectators. VERY cool (BIG) illuminated Equestrian disclaimer on the side of the nearest outhouse.

Eagles Breakfast -- BIG win. I was surprised that more SCA folks weren't there. You could have the entire menu for $5. (No kidding!) Ate too much.

Took us four tries to get to all the merchants. Excellent fabric merchant (I have their card somewhere) linen, wool, silk. Pastiche finally seduced me into buying Queen E's Wardrobe. I had second thoughts about it all the way home, but they've all gone away since I've started reading it. Worth every cent.

Wyewood's Chocolate happening was truly amazing.
