Parents: Valentin Gangolff and Lucia von Nordlingen Brother Georg Gangolff, on whose estate my sons and I live.
Married at 19, in 1504, to a minor nobleman, Klaes Eberhardt, who was an officer in the landsknecht. He was killed in the Battle of Marignano outside Milan in 1515. Gera did not follow the army, but rather stayed on her family's estate and raised her children.
Gera gave birth to two sons. First son Faris of Madrone, a wandering minstrel, born in 1505 (25 years old) and Zachariah of Moore, born in 1507 (22 years old), a cavalry soldier, journeyman printer, and new father.
Gera, like most women, is legally dependent upon her father and brother. She is literate and numerate, owns land and conducts business, but her brother retained guardianship of her (now adult) sons and her first husband’s inheritance.
She remarried at 44, in 1529, to a mercenary Captain, Christopher MacEveny, a Wild Goose from Ireland. No additional children came of this union.
She manages the household for her family, since her mother is infirm and her brother’s wife consumptive. To support her brother with the printing business, Gera has travelled north to Nuremburg, west to Ulm, and south to Venice on one extended trip.
She enjoys tailoring, sewing, embellishment, printing from type and plate, minor metalsmithing, and serving her family.
