Activities
The Shire of Midhaven will be celebrating the coming of the tulip from the Ottoman Empire to the Dutch Republic at the end of the sixteenth Century, and we invite you to share in the festivities at our annual Harvest Feast on Saturday, November 16, 2013. There will be an awesome feast, Midhaven’s Arts & Sciences contest (Please see http://midhaven.antir.sca.org/HF2013 for details.), bardic entertainment, court, & a dessert auction.
8:00 AM — noon: Event staff arrives on site and sets up
noon: Gate opens to the populace and Family Activities area opens
1:00 PM — 3:30 PM: The Shire of Midhaven’s Arts & Sciences prize tourney (see http://midhaven.antir.sca.org/HF2013 for information), and the November Lions Blood meeting of the An Tir College of Heralds
3:30 PM — Tabulation of A&S results, and moving furniture to set up for court
4:00 PM: Family Activities area closes
4:30 PM: Court
After Court: Feast hall is set up for feast; feast servers report to the serving area
5:30 PM: The feast begins with bardic entertainments performed during the courses
After 3rd Course: Dessert auction (please contribute something)
As soon as practical: Clean-up
10:00 PM: Site closes to the populace
Those not wishing to participate in the A&S contest or the Lions Blood meeting are welcome to bring games to play or A&S projects to work on. Also, the Master of Stables (Sir Thorkell FitzHrothgar) has said that if people come with the necessary armor, etc. he will be glad to hold fighter practice, weather permitting.

Activities will include:

  • A themed Arts & Sciences prize tourney
  • The November Lions Blood meeting of the An Tir College of Heralds

1st course: (Turkish)

  • Buyresiyye (Meatballs with Barberries)
  • Fresh pickled cucumbers
  • Bulghur with chestnuts
  • Rose petal jam
  • Flat bread

2nd course: (blend of Turkish and Dutch)

  • Mantý (dumplings with garlic-sumac-yogurt sauce)
  • Kâchkül-i kabak spiced chickpeas and gourds
  • Fried parsnip salad
  • possibly another starchy dish

3rd course: (Dutch)

  • Roast chicken with red currant sauce
  • Herb fritters
  • Savoury apple tart
  • possibly another veggie
  • In addition, there will be a vegan lentil soup, fruit, and rolls available at the dayboard, included in your admission.
