CORONATION, SHITTIMWOOD, JULY 11-12
The good folk of Sbittimwoode invite the populace to attend the festivities attendant upon the Coronation of lllfred Drommefjell and his lady Sumingo on July 11-12 in their Shire.
The site is a private facility near the Canadian/U,S, border in Blaine, Washington. The "usual primitive facilities" are promised. The autocrats welcome guests and ask only that usual courtesies be observed by them.
Activities: A class in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation will be offered on Friday evening at the site - RSVP for this class before June 15th by writing Amanta Mafta Inca, mka Jackie Lynch. Contests being offered include, Village Idiot, sponsored by the shirefolk; A Favor - sewn recently, neither given nor worn, offered by the Warp & Woof Guild of the shire; A Scroll - judgement based on effort weighted toward beauty and originality, offered by the Blackfinger Guild of the shire, prize to be a sheet of true vellum. (Entires must be submitted before Saturday noon to Hugh de Ruthven, mka John Hughey A New World Potlatch is being planned by the shire"e culinary guild and will include salmon, potatoes, corn and a wild-food salad. This unique feast will be held on Saturday, the autocrats encourage participation in the tradition of the potlatch - stories, tall tales, outrageous gifts given, and much status-bumping. Prizes given for innovation.
The Schedule (tentative): Friday I Site Opens/Set Up Saturday: Noon - last Court of Scellanus and Maelen 1:3O - Coronation of Ulfred and Sumingo 2:00 - First Court of Ulfred and Sumingo 3:30 - Fighting (Champion's List) as decreed by Their Highnesses 7:00 - New World Potlatch After Potlatch, Such activities as may please Their Highnesses Logistics: From the North, cross into the U,S, at the Pacific Highway Crossing (176th Street), turn left on D Street in Blaine (first possible left) and follow signs. From the South, Take I-5 North, exit at #275 (truck exit) Follow exit past flashing light (at H street) and turn at D street, follow signs. Fees for site costs are $1.89 (U.S.0/$2.19 Canadian, Th Potlach tickets are $4.00 before June 3O and $5.50 at the door. Since there is very limited space, reservations are encouraged early. Checks or money orders and a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope should be sent to Shittimwoode Culinary Guild, c/o Jackie Lynch. The shire welcomes volunteers, and asks all interested in aiding them with constabulary and so forth to write or contact them. The seneschal of the shire is Constantine Alexius Paleologus, mka llicharo Crabtree.
LATE BREAKING ANNOUNCEMENTS about the Coronation. Due to an unprecedented lack of advanced reservations for the Coronation Potlatch, the autocrats were forced to refuse all ticket requests submitted after June 3O. They tender their apologies. The Blackfinger Guild's scroll contest is, more specifically, for a written and illuminated scroll proving that the pen is, indeed, mightier than the sword.

Announcements involving the An Tir July Coronation at Shittimwoode Instruction in CPR: Everyone should know CPR (Cardiopulmonary Reuscitation)! A class is offered to all caring inhabitants of the Knowne World from 2-6 pm on Friday, July 10 at the site of the July An Tir Coronation. Please make your intention to attend this class known before June 15 - we'll cancel if fewer than eight sign up. Contact: Amanta Maita Inca (contact info omitted).
Contests: A favor (sewn recently and never given nor worn) sponsored by Warp and Woof Guild; a scroll (proving the pen is indeed, mightier than the sword) to be judged for beauty and originality, weighted by effort. Submit entries before noon Saturday, July 11 to Guild of the Blackfinger or send (with SASE) to Hugh de Ruthven (contact info omitted). The prize will be a sheet of true vellum.
There will be a New World Potlatch of salmon, potatoes, sweet corn, and wilde-food salad on Saturday evening for $3 (U.S.) before May 31, $4 before June 30, and $5 at the door (a very limited number will be available at the door). Please send a check or money order with a SASE to Aislinn O'Riagin, Shittimwoode Culinary Guild, House of Amber (contact info omitted). In the tradition of the potlatch, we will also expect stories, tall tales, outrageous gifts, and much status-bumping. Prizes will be given for innovation. Volunteers are welcome to assist - we'll feed you, but please write ahead.
The Costumer's Guild will sponsor an armor contest based on armor that looks good (without necessarily being of authentic construction). Overall appearance is important. All pieces must be within a fifty year span of time, and must be SCA legal. One major assembly (i.e., a helmet or leg harnesses) may have been made by another person - everything else must have been made by the entrant(s).
